POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION

POSITION TITLE:  MA Lead Technician  DATE:  November 2022
FLSA STATUS:  Non-Exempt  DEPT:  Military Aviation
LOC:  Delaware
POSITION SUMMARY:  The Military Aircraft Lead Technician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor of Military Aircraft and is responsible for the helicopter technicians assigned, the construction, installation, repair, modification and routine maintenance on aircraft as required; operates in compliance with company safety practices and performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build to OEM specifications, Inspect, test, repair, maintain, and service Military aircraft.
Read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Modify aircraft structures, systems, or components, following drawings, engineering orders and technical publications.
Examine and inspect engine or other components for cracks, breaks, or leaks.
Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects.
Assemble and install electrical, plumbing, mechanical, hydraulic, and structural components and accessories, using hand tools and power tools.
Adjust, align, and calibrate aircraft systems, using hand tools, gauges, and test equipment.
Test engine and system operations, using testing equipment, and listens to engine sounds to detect and diagnose malfunctions.
Service and maintain aircraft systems by performing tasks, such as flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
Perform maintenance/construction of aircraft IAW Manufacturers and/or FAA approved technical data.
Research Manufacturers, DCMAI 8210.1c. and/or FAA technical data to locate applicable data relevant to assigned tasks.
Ensures that no defective unserviceable, or non-airworthy parts are installed on or in aircraft components or articles released for Return To Service
Ensures all equipment/components removed for repair and/or to gain access are properly documented.
Ensures rejected and unserviceable parts are not reused.
Trains new hires and supports and trains team members as needed.
Performs performance reviews for subordinates.
Helps Perform Root cause analysis and assist with developing corrective action plans.
Ensures tools and precision test equipment used has a current calibration
Performs all other duties as assigned.

DIMENSIONS
Manages the daily workflow for multiple aircraft.  Coordinates with the Floor supervisor on daily priorities while guiding the team.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Must have a High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Some college or Associates degree preferred.
A&P License required.
Must have eight years of Military Aircraft experience, preferably CH47 and/or UH60 model.
Must have 2 – 8 years of managerial experience.
Must be familiar with the requirements of DCMAI 8210.1
Must be familiar of the requirements of Federal Aviation Regulations.
Must have strong leadership abilities.
Must be able to focus on key tasks, prioritize duties, and manage multiple priorities.
Must have strong problem solving and people skills.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, and the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Must have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift a maximum of 150 lbs. and work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to travel occasionally.

Working Environment:  The working environment is not climate controlled and is weather permitting.  Daily contact with employees in other departments is required.
