The Engineering Program Manager is responsible for leading a team of highly experienced project managers, scientist, technicians, and engineers that deliver technical solutions to Agilent instrument manufacturing and product design operations based in Wilmington, DE. This position will have multiple senior team members as direct reports. The Engineering Program Manager is expected to provide the necessary leadership to this team and grow each member to their full potential while meeting business objectives.
Provides leadership for a highly experienced multi-disciplined technical team by ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly understood, team member workloads are reasonable, cross-function communications are adequate, and personality conflicts are managed.
Assesses team functional capability, identifies expertise gaps within the team and closes them thru effective coaching and training.
Supports or leads the planning and implementation for a program and/or set of projects contributing to the execution of OFS Divisional or business specific programs.
Collaborate across global sites to define the scope, goals, and deliverables for global projects.
Define and create program/project plans for prioritization and implementation which include investments, resources, and timelines.
Manage all activities throughout the project lifecycle,requirement and stakeholder analysis, vendor selection, risk management, design, dependency management, development, testing, implementation, and transition to manufacturing.
Identify, assess, and facilitate resolution of risks and issues through effective project and business risk management practices.
Evaluate trade-offs between size, complexity, cost, urgency, risk, business value and align team priorities accordingly.
Identify needed decisions and drive the decision-making process within business.
Interface with Senior Functional Managers and Business Unit leadership as needed for resource management and team member performance reviews.
Ten plus years of industry experience leading technology intensive projects and teams
Breadth of experience across multiple technical disciplines such as hardware, software, material science and chemistry
Proven management skills with stakeholders at varying levels of maturity to influence and deliver business outcomes while navigating a highly matrixed organization
Strong analytical skills to assess situations and drive decision making
Ability to coordinate across functions in a high technology life science company as they impact projects including negotiation of scope, roles and responsibilities, specifications, timelines, and resources up, across, and down organization
Excellent ability to facilitate and negotiate with at all levels of the organization to achieve desired results for team and business.
Bachelors or Masters in technical discipline required, MBA or PMP preferred.
