Job Description

Eaton’s B-Line Division is currently hiring a Director of Fire Protection Sales. This position offers remote flexibility.

Position Overview:

The Director, Fire Protection is responsible for the attainment of overall sales objectives for the B-Line Fire Protection product portfolio. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing and executing growth plans, incorporating distributor personnel, and contractors, and tracking progress to meet expected growth goals. These responsibilities also include increasing customer preference and driving specification and demand for B-Line’s Fire Protection products in the marketplace for their assigned geographic region. The incumbent will meet with engineering firms, architectural firms, consultants, end users, contractors, OEM’s, and others to deliver technical presentations, write specifications, and build and grow key customer relationships within a given territory. He/she is also responsible for driving opportunities that assist B-Line in achieving the division goals leveraging the Eaton sales teams/channels.

This position requires the incumbent to leverage internal and external resources including FP Regional Sales Managers, FP Technical Sales Representatives, to drive products and the channel to market to achieve market share gains, support price attainment goals and implement strategic initiatives throughout the assigned territory. This position also requires complex technical knowledge and strong communication skills to be able to make technical recommendations on product solutions It is essential to understand major competitors’ tactics, organization, distribution strategy, and pricing while keeping management informed of trends and changes.

The incumbent will successfully achieve sales targets while maintaining quality standards and controlling expenses. Key attributes of the ideal candidate include an individual who is motivated, hardworking and has prior sales experience with a track record of success. This individual will be an effective communicator who can provide reliable forecasting and clear reporting, able to manage project plans, schedules and resources to meet milestones and objectives while remaining within established budgets.

In this function you will:

1. Sales Efforts

• Plans and directs the efforts of distribution, contractors, and in some regions, sales agents in securing sales volume in accordance with the prescribed objectives or goals.

• Develop and implement products promotions

• Develop and drive new product sales

• Develop and implement conversion plans

• Assists distribution, contractors, and sales agents at appropriate intervals as required, and provides expertise or influence in key situations.

• Develops and maintains liaison with top management of national or regional facilities of key accounts located within the territory.

• Analyzes sales levels and trends, and initiates action as necessary to ensure attainment of sales objectives.

2. Development

• Develops and maintains a group of distribution, contractors, and rep agencies .

• Responsible for initiating and implementing training for distribution, contractors, and reps .

• Development of programs to maintain and improve the sales.

3. Technical Assistance

• Understands and demonstrates the features and benefits of the full line Fire Protection products including training others on product usage and applications.

• Ensures appropriate technical assistance regarding product applications to engineering consultants, OEM, users, inspection and standards personnel, contractors, etc.

• Trains our Customers on how to specify, sell, and properly apply the products.

• Develop and presents technical seminars for customers, sales personnel, distributors, specifying engineers, and trade shows keeping the customer aware of the manufacturing capabilities including: design, fabrication and assembly abilities

• Accountable for providing technical support and information to customers on a pre-sales and post-sales basis for product application, specification, interpretation and quotation support.

4. Market and Product Information

• Informs the Division of business and product trends and competitive conditions within the region.

• Recommends new or modified programs to ensure a competitive position is maintained within the sales territory.

• Supports the strategic planning process through understanding and effective communication of customer needs.

5. Management Coordination and Reporting

• Coordinates sales activities with production, distribution, engineering, marketing, and finance departments to achieve territory sales objectives.

• Evaluates and recommends operational improvements and responsible for maintaining and improving pricing in accordance with company objectives.

• Helps to coordinate activities and resolve internal problems that can negatively impact customers, including issues related to manufacturing, scheduling, delivery and billing.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution

+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in Industrial/Construction Sales

+ Minimum of 2 years of managerial experience leading a sales team

+ Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license

Preferred qualifications:

•MBA or advanced degree preferred, from an accredited institution

•Entrepreneurial leader with proven track record of leading and developing teams through various aspects of the business cycle (growth, downturn)

•Strong interpersonal and communications skills; ability to establish and maintain relationships

•Superior organizational agility skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports, peers, and customers internal/external to the organization.

•Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise

•Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker
