Location: Northern Wilmington, DE, or Berwyn, PA Schedule: Monday – Friday Hybrid/Onsite – The position will have a hybrid work schedule of 3 days a week in the office and 2 days a week remote

Description:

The Application Development Manager will manage the software development process for new and existing bank systems and applications, including requirements definition, design, specification, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance. The Application Development Manager will manage the development and deployment of new applications, systems software, and enhancements and maintain, support, and upgrade existing applications throughout the enterprise. The Manager will provide direction for the application development team to support business operations.

Responsibilities:

+ Manages the integrity, and changes to the application development servers and databases. Oversees development and implementation of change control processes for the development team to follow.

+ Provides ad-hoc reporting and decision support required for management decision processes, strong resources and capacity planning experiences.

+ Oversees that development projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.

+ Oversees the collaboration of analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications as well as the identification and resolution of program errors.

+ Provides technical leadership to business analysts, QA analysts and programmers working with development and QA project teams.

+ Oversees the review and analyses of existing applications’ effectiveness and efficiency and develops strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.

+ Provides research and makes recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.

+ Manages and enforces functional policies, procedures, and quality assurance best practices.

+ Manage project information to ensure that relevant stakeholders are kept updated of progress and changes in project. Develop project communications plan in accordance with communication and knowledge management processes.

+ Identify and Analyze project risks in accordance with organizational risk policies.

+ Develops processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies and assists in the development and meeting of departmental budget.

+ Effectively manage up to 10 direct reports (i.e., hires, trains, mentors, identifies development opportunities, appraises, motivates, disciplines, and recommends termination as necessary).

+ Acts as a resource and go-to person for direct reports, within the development department, from outside departments, and customers.

+ Maintains effective communication and working relationships with Enterprise Development Manager as well as colleagues in the Technology and Business organizations.

+ Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer science or other related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.

+ Must have a minimum of five years progressively responsible management/leadership experience in a software development field. Prior banking and/or financial services/and or wealth management industry experience highly preferred.

+ Must have a minimum of seven years of experience working through the requirement, design, development, QA & UAT testing, implementing, and delivering in release cycles, and to business lines

+ Must have knowledge of core software applications and integration platforms, including, Bank and Wealth Core Accounting systems, Oracle JDE/Fusion, MuleSoft, marketing tools, Microsoft stack technologies and application development tools.

+ Must have knowledge of backend programming languages and methodologies:

+ Languages – Java, Clojure, C#, VB

+ Frameworks – Spring Batch, Spring Boot, Compojure, .NET

+ Must have knowledge of frontend programming languages and methodologies:

+ Languages – JavaScript, JSP, Typescript

+ Frameworks – React, Bootstrap, Spring MVC, Angular

+ Must have proven experience in helping with the direction, development, and implementation of software solutions, both On-Prem and Cloud.

+ Must have direct hands-on experience with code management, development, deployment, and integration tools.

+ Functional knowledge of use and implementation of automated software and system management tools.

+ Functional knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.

+ Knowledge of database design and file management techniques.

+ Good project management skills (waterfall/agile) and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.

+ Good written and verbal communications skills

+ Track record of implementing complex as well as simple IT solutions

+ Working knowledge and experience of Demand Management

+ Understanding of business case analysis and use of ROI in funding projects.
