Job Description

Christiana Care Health System (CCHS) is looking for APC Applicants (Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants) who have been licensed less than 18 months to join our innovative and customized 9-month Urgent Care Fellowship.

This is an intensive program for new graduate NPs/PAs which provides mentoring by experienced NPs/PAs, specialty rotations, and additional didactic education in patient care in the Urgent Care setting. This fellowship program is both supportive and challenging as APCs are seeing patients to engage in the clinical experience, while continuing to learn and grow through a structured didactic curriculum. This program is perfect for an APC who is looking to develop into the role of an Urgent Care provider in a structured environment, with a Fellowship Coordinator providing guidance throughout the program. The APC Fellowship is based in our group of 12 Christiana Care GoHealth Urgent Care Centers within Delaware and Maryland. with Fellows being given the opportunity to gain deeper exposure to education in specialty areas uniquely selected for each based on their clinical experience.

Each selected Fellow will receive an annual salary of $78,000. Fellows are considered full-time employees of Christiana Care with benefits. Hours include a combination of 12 and 8 hours shifts. There will be some weekend and holiday commitment required during the fellowship based on preceptor schedules; should employment continue beyond completion of the fellowship, weekend duty will be every other weekend, and practice holiday obligations will apply. Applicants are expected to commit to up to 2 years of service to ChristianaCare-GoHealth, inclusive of the 9-month fellowship. The practice reserves the right to extend full-time offers to Fellows who meet performance objectives and demonstrate CCHS values, and based on the needs of the practice (15 months of full-time duty following completion of the fellowship); permanent positions will be compensated at a rate commensurate with 1 year of clinical experience.

Establish priorities based on patient needs and emergent care.
Examines and treats walk in patients ages 6 months and up.
Orders routine point of care testing, x-ray studies, EKG's and other diagnostic services as well as select send out labs as pertinent to the patient visit.
Interprets above testing and develops plan of care or follow up plan for patients as appropriate.
Examines and treats all age patients, including pediatric patients age 6 months and up, within established guidelines and scope of practice
Provides initial wound care including suturing of uncomplicated wounds.
Assessment and reduction of minor joint dislocations.
Assessment and application of splinting materials for sprains and fractures as indicated.
Provides other minor procedures such as I&D, fishhook removal, nail trephination, foreign body removal, ear lavage and other necessary procedures.
Maintains appropriate records on all patients and employees seen at this location.
Provides education to patients regarding health-related issues.
Performs other duties assigned by the Physician Lead, Lead APP or Medical Director as appropriate.

Master's degree as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse -NP Licensure or license eligible as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - FNP as set forth by the state of Delaware or Maryland
Prescriptive authority required in Delaware
Certification in BLS required, ACLS and PALS required within the first month of employment.
Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant Program
NCCPA Certification
DE and/or MD State License and Prescriptive authority
DEA Licensure eligible
