Job Summary (Primary function)
This position will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations and processes, monthly account reconciliations and journal entries, internal financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with all relevant internal controls and accounting policies.
Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)
Manage key accounting activities supporting various functional areas including Research and Development, Commercial, Tech Ops, IT, and Facilities.
Support month-end close and post-close activities including preparation and review of various journal entries, account reconciliations, disclosures, and internal reporting.
Ensure operational and process compliance with applicable accounting policies, US GAAP, and related internal controls.
Continually evaluate accounting processes and make recommendations for improvements.
Support external auditor quarterly reviews and annual audit requests.
Provide accounting support to key functional finance personnel.
Collaborate with European accounting team and drive process standardization where applicable.
Prepare invoices for collaborative partnership agreements.
Participate in special projects as needed.
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley 404.
Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail oriented and highly organized.
Skilled in time management and able to prioritize tasks.
Highly proficient with Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Ability to use various accounting software applications (SAP/Hyperion/Blackline).
