Description:

The Family Medicine Preceptor is an employed physician of the hospital reporting to the Program Director, Family Medicine Residency and, ultimately, the Chair, St. Francis Hospital Family Medicine Department. The primary function of the Family Practice Preceptor position is to serve as an educator and clinical role model for the Residents primarily in the ambulatory setting and shall devote an average of thirteen (13) hours per week performing such duties. As part of his/her duties, this individual will provide clinical services for patients of no less than 12 hour weekly.

Requirements:

+ Graduate of an accredited medical school. Clinical skills and knowledge of Family Medicine residency program

+ Unrestricted Delaware Board of Medicine Examiners physician license

+ Unrestricted DEA permit to prescribe all medications commonly prescribed in the course of practice

+ Appropriate credentialing through Medical Staff Office

Additional credentials:

Eligible to provide reimbursable Physician services and maintain provider status with Medicare and Medicaid. Eligible to provide services with no sanctions or exclusions from either the Health and Human Services/Office of Inspector General (HHS/OIG) Cumulative Sanction Report of the General Services Administration’s (GSA) List of Parties Excluded from Federal Programs

Essential Duties: Teaching duties will include (but are not limited to):

+ Direct resident supervision in the ambulatory setting at the Family Medicine Center

+ Lecture/discussions delivered at resident conferences as assigned

+ Audio/video/live reviews with resident physicians and physicians on faculty

+ Direct patient care will include supervision of residents and medical students with scope of care including general family medicine and minor surgical procedures

Administrative duties will include (but not limited to:

+ Curriculum implementation for all educational aspects of the program.

+ Communication and coordination with the private physicians in the community who act as teachers of the residents is respected

Other Duties:

+ Provide excellent leadership skills, supervisory skills, mentoring skills, and teamwork skills commensurate with a position of leadership within this organization.

Protect confidential information in accordance with policies and procedures

+ Participate in continuous quality improvement when appropriate

+ Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

+ Fully licensed Physician in the State of Delaware.

+ Board Certified (Eligible) in Family Medicine; and

+ Familiarity with Hospital Joint Commission Requirements

Professional Responsibilities

+ Provide appropriated direct medical care to inpatients and outpatients in the Family Medicine program;

+ Supervise Residents and Medical Students in ambulatory setting; and

+ Perform such duties as may be reasonably requested by Hospital to assure the deliver of quality health care.
