This leadership position is accountable for determining the strategic direction and the oversight and successful operation of the School Residential Program. The Director is responsible for ensuring all care, quality, and compliance standards are met and that students thrive in the residential program. The Director will work closely with key school team members in fostering a collaborative connection with the school day program for consistency and carryover in programming.

  • Collaborate with:
    • Assistant Principal and other Team Leads in fostering a connection with the school day program for consistency and carryover in programming.
    • Nursing department to ensure medical-related regulations are met including but not limited to required documentation, medicine administration, 45 day assessment reviews, physicals and dentals, delegation requirements, etc.
    • Human Resources regarding performance management issues, pay rates, consistency in the application of policies, and any other matters affecting employee morale and retention.
    • Other departments (internal & external) and family for the welfare of the students and enforcement of all school policies and procedures.
  • Oversight of Residential Coordinators' responsibility in creating a highly successful and accountable department team at all levels including:
    • Monitor and evaluate the development and ongoing process of DSP Tier Program.
    • Manage on-going employee performance, including staff disciplinary actions with corrective actions plans, suspension/and or termination when necessary. 
    • Promote daily staff engagement.
    • Ensure optimal staffing levels during all residential hours using all department positions as needed. Administer annual review process.
    • Work with HR to facilitate the hiring process, oversee training and orientation for new hires, and ensure training compliance for all staff including RCYCP certification requirements.
  • Ensure the all School Residential policies/procedures and State Regulations are implemented and adhered to at all times. 
    • Conduct all aspects of DHS, Autism Waiver, and DDA/OHCQ, requirements for residential licensing and monitoring, including coordinating announced and unannounced audit visits and reviews.
  • Oversight of program finances and budget and manage the department within budget guidelines.
  • Ensure students have engaging and appropriate activities to address daily and functional living skills, access to the community, socialization, social/emotional, communication, and other relevant skills.
  • Ensure sufficient and timely communication with families as appropriate and to include facilitating student and family communications as well as supervisor contact with families. 
    oversight of Program Assistant's duties to plan, coordinate, and supervise the recreation, leisure time, and safety of the students during residential hours. 
  • In conjunction with school counseling team and Residential Coordinators, conduct investigations of potential abuse or neglect and unknown injuries; report as needed to external oversight agencies.
  • Ensure the correct use of Behavioral Management (Safety Care) and proper documentation is completed accurately.
  • Develop and regularly review school residential policy and procedure and ensure access and adherence of staff within department.
  • Manage time and attendance for all direct reports.
  • Ensure all internal and external reports are complete/accurate and submitted timely.
  • Facilitate School Residential Staff meetings. 
  • Coordinate environmental inspections of suites and group homes.
