The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Chemistries and Supplies Division (CSD) Research and Development (R&D) at Agilent Technologies reports directly to the Vice President and General Manager (VP/GM) of CSD and leads a global team of over 60 R&D engineers, scientists, and technicians to deliver innovative and high-quality new products for CSD. In this role you will manage directors, who each have a team of first line managers. You will have a consistent record of leading R&D teams and demonstrated success in collaborating cross-functionally, cross-organizationally, and externally to deliver business results. We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic, and transformative strategic leader who can inspire and empower the CSD R&D organization to deliver on their commitments to the business and overall Agilent.
Develop, implement, and communicate the business strategy and drive the R&D implementation
The technical quality of all R&D execution of the CSD R&D organization, ensuring R&D commitments for projects are met on time and to specification, seeking continuously to introduce innovative technology solutions that provide differentiated product performance to meet the needs of Agilent's customers
Use multifaceted and agile resource planning to ensure the R&D talent and resources are deployed to the highest priority projects and initiatives across multiple CSD businesses, consistent with business strategy and in partnership with the CSD Project Management Center of Excellence (PMCoE)
Collaborate across Agilent with other business units and provide access to CSD technology and scientific capabilities.Collaborate with business and product leadership to contribute to the vision for product and workflow solutions that drive customer value, efficiency, and productivity
Ensure formal design reviews and appropriate product design documentation procedures are completed by the teams and controlled according to the R&D processes and Quality requirements within R&D management as a routine process
Create a diversified and dynamic CSD R&D team by attracting and recruiting top talent and developing staff, technologies, skills, capabilities, and processes across a variety of science and engineering teams. Mentor team members by providing career development plans, enabling professional development, and driving continuous improvement of all organizational activities while adapting skills and processes to the ever-evolving business needs. Act as a strategic problem solver for the future technology and capability needs of CSD R&D to implement business strategy
Engage an independent and evidence-based view of the technical marketplace and customer environment to provide additional input on product roadmaps with product marketing teams toward enabling business strategy. Collaborate as needed and appropriately with internal partners to assess potential acquisitions and partnerships for the CSD business.
Champion a competitive intelligence approach, challenging the R&D team to stay leading-edge in their fields and to identify emerging competitive technologies found in the scientific and patent literature
Bachelor's or Master's Degree or University Degree or equivalent plus demonstrated industry experience. A Ph.D. in a science or engineering field is a plus.
