Business Card Risk Credit Officer

Job Description

As a Credit Officer in Business Card Risk, you are responsible for the following:

+ Evaluates credit worthiness and makes judgmental decisions on business card applications/accounts

+ Provide quality feedback to lending staff on submitted credit reviews

+ Ensure credit review documentation supports and justifies the disposition

+ Ability to independently identify and assess applicant risks, including financial, credit, reputational and industry risk

+ Ability to identify when additional levels of disclosure or documentation are needed to support the credit exposure recommended

+ Participate in discussions with business/market if decisions rendered are escalated. Strong ability to support rendered decisions while balancing overall risk/reward to the firm

+ Identifying transactions which should be calibrated with management or cross line of business partners

+ Ensure documentation adheres to risk requirements, including risk grading when appropriate

+ Mostly works independently without direct supervision.

+ Assists with appropriate updates to risk policies and procedures aligning to business card and corporate liability functions

+ Ad hoc account level research to assist with strategy and/or system enhancements

Qualifications

+ Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, graduate degree in business preferred.

+ Completion of advanced courses in finance, accounting, and credit either through a bank sponsored training program or college course work.

+ 4-5 years of relevant experience preferred

+ Ability to formulate and articulate objective views based on professional analysis.

+ Thorough knowledge of commercial credit and judgmental lending

+ Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as analytic and problem-solving skills.

+ Adept with Microsoft Office
