The Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware invites applications for a continuing-track (non-tenure track) position in Operations Management. This position is in our expanding Operations Management area, whose growth is fueled by increased interest in data-based analytics and decision making. In 2019, Forbes named University of Delaware one of America’s best midsize employers, and in 2021 it ranked University of Delaware the best employer in Delaware.

Candidates must possess a PhD in operations management or a related field or be ABD with completion expected in the near future. In addition, candidates should be well-qualified to design and teach Operations Management and Business Analytics courses.

The Alfred Lerner College at UD has a joint program with the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), located in Chengdu, China. The candidate will support the SWUFE-UD Institute of Data Science joint program. Specifically, the candidate’s teaching will include courses taught at the SWUFE campus, involving one or two 5-8 week sessions at SWUFE per year. The remainder of the teaching would be at the Newark, Delaware main campus.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the drive and vision to develop an innovative, cutting-edge instructional program and a commitment to scholarly research. This is a permanent position, renewable with increasing contract renewal lengths (starting at two years and moving up to five year renewals). There is no promotion requirement with this position though there are opportunities for promotion in rank. Teaching load is typically a maximum of six courses per year with potential reductions for research productivity.

The starting date for this position is either June 1, 2023 or August 16, 2023, depending on candidate availability and teaching needs.
