On-site position in Newark, Delaware (US)

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This individual is responsible for providing Quality Engineering support for the Newark, DE films and sheet polymer manufacturing facility. This role will also support production as necessary to achieve organizational objectives in a safe and efficient manner. Additionally, this individual is responsible for identifying and implementing improvements in quality systems and culture. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting and interfacing with customers and production teams.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCES:

+ Adhere to all required safety procedures applicable in manufacturing.

+ Identify opportunities to improve quality systems and culture.

+ Manage the site’s ISO 9001/QMS and additional systems (eg. AS9100) in adherence with Solvay guidelines.

+ Develop and manage IATF 16949 program for the site in adherence with Solvay guidelines.

+ Develop and implement corrective actions to customer complaints using Root-Cause-Analysis techniques.

+ Responsible for development of analytical thinking at the operator’s level and training in quality best practices and procedures.

+ Design and implement quality improvement CAPEX projects.

+ Execute studies to improve current quality processes and systems.

+ High involvement with equipment and raw material suppliers to solve existing problems and improve product quality.

+ High Involvement with Film Customers to determine their requirements, answer questions, and get feedback.

+ Responsible for product quality.

+ Create, Investigate and disposition NCM (Internal and External rejections)

+ Understand customer specifications and translating them into internal product specifications.

+ Provide engineering support to troubleshoot production processes in terms of quality performance and as a backup to the production engineer as necessary.

+ Complete all auxiliary duties as assigned by Site Manager.

+ The ability to successfully give and receive feedback from both peers and managers is essential.

+ Demonstrated leadership, decision making skills, and functionality in a team environment. Ability to work independently and handle multiple assignments is required.

+ Highly resourceful, able to seek out and acquire new knowledge or subject material quickly, and transfer knowledge effectively to others.

HSE RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Follow all site safety rules and procedures.

+ Lead by example and hold others accountable for all Solvay HSE policies.

+ Participate in Pre-Start up Safety Reviews, Critical Task Analyses and other risk reduction processes by lending experience and knowledge of plant operations.

+ Participate in incident investigations and implementing corrective actions learned from the investigation process.

+ Participate in applicable Newark site HSE initiatives including, but not limited to: emergency response drills, behavioral based safety teams, and routine safety inspections.

EDUCATION/SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

+ BS/MS in Chemical, Materials or Polymer Engineering or Chemistry is required.

+ Demonstrated leadership preferably in a management/supervision position.

+ Five years’ experience working in an industrial environment. Film or sheet extrusion experience is preferred.

+ Understanding of laboratory equipment and procedures.

+ Familiar with ISO9001/IATF 16949/QMS systems

+ Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with an understanding of polymer chemistry.

+ Excellent oral and written communication.

+ Excellent computer skills and ability to become proficient in SAP, Lab software and Microsoft® Office applications.
