Job Description

The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center is hiring a casual Genetics Clinical Assistant to provide support to the Medical Genetic Counselors. You will be responsible for coordinating and performing a variety of tasks that include preparing charts, calculating risk models, assisting with pre authorization for testing; creating and updating pedigrees, executing requests for medical necessity letters, updating clinical database and records when results are reclassified, performing other clerical duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or its equivalent required
Strong written, oral, and communication skills are required. Must be detail orientated.
Three years of experience as clerical or data staff in a medical environment or equivalent detail oriented fast pace data environment.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted

Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements:

Knowledge of medical and genetic terminology

Knowledge of family genealogy

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Knowledge of medical and genetic terminology

Interest in learning genetic software

Attendance at appropriate department meetings

Ability to prioritize and organize projects

Ability to problem solve

Ability to work with deadlines

Ability to handle patient information in a confidential manner
