Summary:
General: Assists the Director in the technical management for all areas of Patient Business Services by supporting day to day operations of the areas. Serves as a resource person for team members. Primary duties include ensuring compliance with policies/procedures and regulatory requirements, problem solving, patient related disputes, back up to PBS functions. Specific: Responsible for the area of Patient Business Services to include but not limited to: responsibility for the recovery of patient accounts receivables requiring detailed collection activity beyond the scope of other departments. Acts as support to the PFS Manager in the recovery of escalated patient grievances, coordination of communication and research. Acts as a resource for daily operations and department personnel. Supports the department in meeting regulatory requirements from external sources and ensures that all departmental mandatory education and compliance issues are planned and implemented.
Other information:
Minimum five years in a related field. Hospital experience desirable. Able to communicate effectively, pleasantly, cooperatively, and discretely with patients, physicians, team members, and the general public. Able to work under pressure and maintain patient confidentiality. Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with people of diverse backgrounds, training and experience. Demonstration of creativity, initiative and problem solving. . Ability to lift or transport 10 pounds.


Responsibilities:
Supports the Director with the daily operation of the Patient Business Service department in all functional areas. Instrumental in identification of patient related matters and escalates to the Director/Manager as appropriate. Instrumental in the development and implementation of training and education for department team members regarding all regulatory and hospital specific educating. i.e., Joint Commission, Corporate Compliance, Departmental Specific education and training. Supports the PBS department in patient recovery and customer service for escalated patient satisfaction issues. Acts as a department liaison for the PF'S Manager and the hospital in the research and resolution of escalated issues. Supports the PBS department areas relative to Credentialing of Payers, RAC tool maintenance, CHAP program reporting requirements, Academy of Healthcare Revenue training materials, HFMA training, Crane ware tools for customer pricing for services. Identifies, analyzes and reports departmental processing or system issues. Prepares and submits for approval the appropriate documents required to resolve the issues identified. Provides support to the Revenue Integrity Team assisting with special project needs and requirements as needed Enhances professional growth and development through seminars, internal department rotations and professional organizations. Other duties. Support the department as backup in various functions on an as needed basis.
