The role of the Project Planner is to understand customer requirements and work flow, communicate recommendation, plan, execute, provide regular status, and finalize the delivery of computer solutions according to deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members to deliver according to plan. The Project Planner is considered a team leader exercising full responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating and directing work activities. The Project Planner will also define the deployment project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, organizes, supervises and coordinates implementation of new computer technology.
Understand customer work flow and requirements, negotiates support requirements and SLA with customer
Provides feedback to resource manager of assigned staff; assists in the selection of staff and provides for training.
Makes decisions within specified limits regarding equipment and software selection and direction for new technology requests. Escalating appropriately when standards are not meeting customer needs.
Prepares or directs the preparation of appropriate access and system setup needs.
Maintains current knowledge of standard equipment and software.
Confers with business leaders and IT resources from business area to implement technology in the most appropriate and efficient manner.
Assists with the administration and coordination of overall deployment department activities.
Utilizes or directs utilization of computers and software programs for various technical projects.
Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with Program Manager, Department Resource Manager, Systems Analysts and Application analysts for the department.
Develop project plans and associated communications documents.
Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
Liaise with customer departments on an ongoing basis.
Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
Track project milestones and deliverables.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise deployment team members, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
Build, develop, and grow business relationships with customers.
Assist with the development of the strategic and tactical plans; including capital and expense budget..
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Obtained bachelors degree or commensurate experience in a discipline related to information technology and end-user support.
Demonstrated, from past work experiences, the breadth and depth of knowledge to support a complex, dynamic information organization.
Acquired 3 or more years of information technology and system analysis experience.
Acquired 2 or more years of customer service related experience.
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
