As Technical Service & Development Scientist/Engineer (TS&D) , the successful candidate will be responsible for the technical growth & technical support projects at assigned customers, while working in close cooperation with respective Account Managers. Also, will play an important role with DuPont’s customers, representing Dupont’s technical community as problem-solvers. Because of this relationship with DuPont’s customers, the TS&D Scientist is often the first to identify new opportunities and work with the Product and Process Research and Development (R&D) groups to develop new products or process technology to support the customers.

The TS&D Scientist provides the critical link between customers and Dupont’s technical expertise from troubleshooting, to supporting processing of existing products at customers, to defining new product applications and modifying existing products to meet new customer needs.

TS&D Scientist is expected to position DuPont’s offering in close coordination with the Marketing managers and Commercial segment leaders.

TS&D Scientist is expected to travel 25 – 35% within the North American geography as required and defined per customers’ needs.

Your key responsibilities:

+ Partner with the commercial team to understand how he/she can help deliver/exceed the business plan, by developing customer intimacy and generating/presenting relevant, credible, high quality technical information for targeted customers.

+ Constantly engaged with customers, building productive and collaborative trust-based relationships with the assigned accounts.

+ Covers immediate action/troubleshooting at customers in close cooperation with sales, research and manufacturing activities, including sampling, identifying problem source (at customers or at Dupont) and reporting.

+ Participates in and follows application and product development activities.

+ Leads implementation at core customers in cooperation with other TS&D Scientist /R&D colleagues and in alignment with the business strategy.

+ Tracks competitive technology and identifies new products/opportunities in the market.

+ Initiate’s sample/performance ensures broad technical knowledge of competition, including competitive literature.

+ Ensures product quality and performance standards meet customer needs through continuous evaluation of product.

+ Handles customer specification requests, and accesses Quality/ Quality Control data and information

+ Presents technical papers at conferences, in webinars and in other external situations to promote Dupont products and technology.

Additional Responsibilities

+ Operate novel dissolution test equipment for customer service projects

+ Run analyses as needed such as drug assay

+ Able to handle schedule II drugs, documentation, and participate in DEA Audits

+ Run and operate pharmaceutical formulation lab equipment

+ Wet chemistry bench work independently performing a variety of analytical techniques in support of R&D, customer, and regulatory projects

+ Formulating and preparing samples and reagents

+ Execute stability studies in support of product development

+ Providing technical help for routine lab experiments

+ Record lab data and compile & analyze results for review with project leaders. Maintain electronic databases, documenting results in laboratory notebooks and technical reports

+ Troubleshooting existing laboratory processes and instrumentation

+ Maintaining a safe and clean laboratory as well as all other assigned areas of responsibility

+ Run HPLC analyses on a regular basis

+ Assist in evaluation of the results

+ Provides technical solutions in one or more of: product development, application development, technical service.

+ Independently and oversee evaluation of formulation samples for physical / mechanical properties and is proficient in the use of laboratory instruments.

+ Coordinate’s equipment maintenance and calibration, equipment troubleshooting and computer system validation.

+ Responsible for maintaining lab supplies, storage of test substances.

+ Keeps the equipment logbooks updated Responsible for lab housekeeping, consumables

+ stock, and waste disposal.

+ Understands the group objectives and the business or group’s value creating strategy and is an important contributor to the technical solutions that result in project and team success.

+ Understands the value of high-quality data and utilizes Good Laboratory Practices (or equivalent) to generate such data.

+ Defines and implements new testing methods for development purposes. This may require creating unique configurations of existing equipment or development/fabrication of new equipment and systems.

+ Actively participate in work group team meetings to address safety, process improvement, problem solving, and other work group, department, and functional topics. May also participate in functional and/or business/customer teams relevant to supported technologies.

+ Lab Leadership: Distribute work, ensure work is being done & correctly, ensure safety rules are being followed

+ Deliver clear, credible presentations to internal and external audiences, crafting the message to the needs of the attendees and articulating key conclusions, recommendations, etc.

Qualifications :

+ B.S. or M.S. degree in Chemistry or related science, with at least three years of working experience in a laboratory setting with a focus on wet chemistry and analytical chemistry. Or Ph. D. / master’s degree in a pharmaceutical sciences or chemica
