60 onsite / 40 remote Hybrid schedule for the time being but may be subject to change to 100% onsite per company requirements. Travel approximately 10-25%, including international travel is required. Fluent in English.


The Manufacturing Equipment Group (MEG) of DuPont Engineering Technology Center (ETC) located in Wilmington, Delaware is a global corporate engineering consulting group that provides engineering services to DuPont businesses worldwide.

The MEG provides innovative solutions in all aspects of manufacturing equipment engineering including civil, energy, electrical, process equipment, and materials engineering competencies. DuPont businesses use MEG for research guidance, design of process equipment, capital project work, guidance on materials of construction, troubleshooting, process improvement, engineering judgment, determining root cause of process problems, cause of equipment failure, treat corrosion issues, provide guidance on metallurgy and non-metallurgy. MEG Consultants work side-by-side with other experts in MI/QA, process safety, particle technology, overpressure protection, heat, mass and momentum transfer, etc. to deliver practical world-class solutions that drive innovation, operational excellence and growth, as a trusted partner with all DuPont businesses.

A Rotating Machinery Consultant, a part of Process Equipment competency, is needed to provide global support to aspects of rotating equipment such as mechanical power transmission, compressors, turbo machinery, etc.

Your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do: ?

+ Lead and work with DuPont mechanical designers

+ Execute equipment design reviews

+ Clarify vendor proposals

+ Develop technical bid evaluations

+ Leadership in meetings

+ Creating technical requisition purchase packages

+ Provide consultation for designing, or troubleshooting large machinery equipment and process equipment such as centrifugal/ reciprocating/screw compressors, steam/gas turbines

+ Prepare engineering specifications, data sheets, and inspection and testing plans for required equipment

+ Review suppliers’ proposals and develop technical bid evaluations

+ Review and approve suppliers’ design calculations, fabrication drawings, and quality control documents

+ Witness testing and pre-ship inspection of critical equipment in the suppliers manufacturing facilities

+ Participate in plant operability reviews and hazard reviews as applicable to the rotating equipment

+ Provide emergency response to unplanned shutdowns

+ Support the construction team during installation of equipment

+ Perform site inspections as needed to ensure installation is accordance with DuPont standards/guidelines/specifications

+ Become the leader of Rotating Machinery Community of Practice

+ Web handling experience and general machine design capabilities

+ Substantial knowledge of metallic materials, machine shop practices, and welding technologies.

+ Knowledge of common non-metallic materials such as Nylon, Delrin, UHMW etc

+ Predictive Maintenance vibration signature analysis – Emerson equipment is preferred

+ Work with Sourcing to establish and maintain strategic alliances for supply of critical equipment (pumps, mechanical seals, compressors, bearings…..)

+ Work with the MIQA function in the CoE to maintain procedures and tools for inspecting and testing equipment to ensure compliance with our PSM requirements

+ Maintain corporate standards and guidelines within the scope of the Rotating Machinery Network


Requirements: ?

+ BS or MS Mechanical Engineering degree required.

+ 10 – 15 years of working experience on centrifugal/ reciprocating/screw compressors, gearboxes, blowers, steam/gas turbines, fans and blowers, cooling towers, machine design, etc

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills with teamwork and influencing skills

+ Excellent teamwork skills

+ Knowledgeable with internationally recognized codes API, ASME, TEMA, IEC, etc.

+ Good knowledge and experience in inspection of rotating machinery fabrication and performance testing procedures and evaluation
