ROLE DEFINITION ?

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the innovation competency development practice for E&I R&D. The role is based in Marlborough, MA or Wilmington, DE.

The successful candidate will be responsible to lead a comprehensive innovation competency development program for the E&I R&D global technology team and will be a critical catalyst that enables the E&I team to reach new heights with respect to professional growth, organizational innovation competency and return on our innovation investment. This role reports to the E&I R&D Strategy Leader and will be a part of the newly organized E&I R&D Innovation Hub.

Key Role Activities:

The Technical Excellence Leader works cooperatively with the E&I R&D Managers and Laureates to identify and prioritize necessary innovation training content for the global R&D organization, identify suitable course instructors (inside or outside the company), develop a training schedule (mix of online and in-person), facilitate training sessions and a mentoring network, and maintain training certification records.

Key aspects and behaviors of the role include:

• Be a visible (virtual and in-person) leader across all global E&I R&D.

• Work collaboratively with E&I Leaders (R&D Strategy Leader, Managers and Laureates) to understand training needs of the technology team.

• Based on prioritized needs, build a training curriculum for the global R&D organization.

• Identify and schedule suitable course instructors, which will be a mix of internal subject matter expertise, outside consultants, and outside training companies.

• Arrange the training schedule based on instructor availability and enroll students.

• Plan for course logistics, including online connectivity, securing in-person venues, and all necessary support for the training courses.

• Work with instructors to develop certification and recording processes.

• Arrange for instructor compensation (external only).

• Create iLearn training modules for selected course content.

• Arrange for ongoing student support through instructor office hours.

• Develop a mentorship network throughout DuPont based on subject matter expertise.

• Be aware of ITAR and Export Control rules with respect to specific trainings and ensure controlled access accordingly.

• Conduct surveys of instructors and course participants to continuously improve the training program.

• Develop and utilize a network of cross-functional subject matter experts (including technology, strategic marketing, new business development, portfolio management, project management, finance and legal) and competency development leaders across DuPont to leverage content and offerings (e.g. GROW, Emerging Innovation Network, Technology Learning Academy) into and out from E&I.

• Maintain and archive all competency development content within a centralized database that’s available to the R&D community.

• Ensure Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is factored into the training strategy and within all training courses – including selection of course content, course instructors, and the makeup of student cohorts.

• Be an excellent listener and communicator with R&D leadership, course instructors, and course participants to understand and be responsive to their needs in real time.

Key Interface Roles:

The role will involve close collaborations with the R&D Strategy Leader, Innovation Hub colleagues, and R&D Leadership (Managers and Laureates). Building strong relationships across these groups is a must.

ACCOUNTABILITIES – To Ensure:

1. Create a robust innovation training program for E&I R&D.

2. Ensure training courses are executed successfully and follow up support is provided to course participants.

3. Ensure course content is archived and retrievable by the global R&D team.

Ensure that the resources that enable the global R&D community to innovate with excellence are easily accessed and engaged (e.g. Guidepoint expert network for external insights, BrightIdea ideation and idea management platform, etc…). GROUP ROLE

The Technical Excellence Leader is accountable to develop and maintain a technical competency development program for Electronics and Industrial R&D.

ROLE (JOB) SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS :

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical discipline.

• Passion for learning and teaching with some teaching experience as an adult educator

• Experience leading (or assisting with) an industrial competency development program

• Knowledge about traditional and modern training methods and techniques

• Proven verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills

• Expertise in use of all Microsoft Office software

• Experience working with a global team, seeking to understand issues, trends, and perspectives of various cultures and countries.

• Ability to handle multiple assignments and assess and analyze data.

• Able to accommodate a flexible schedule that will include occasional evenings, weekends, and early mornings.

• Travel ~25% of the time to engage with R&D leadership and the greater R&D community.

EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES:

Required experience and role-specific attributes that must be evident or developable (within specified timeframe) to perform in the role successfully.

• Preferred: 5 years of experience as an adult educator

• Ability to manage stakeholders within a matrixed organization

• Knowledgeable about learning management systems, instructional design and e-learning platforms.
