‘Underground Laborers’ and ‘Equipment Operators’ are an integral part of the construction process. They use heavy equipment in order to place conduit and cables from poles, pedestals, and vaults to residential and commercial buildings. We’re looking for Underground team members who are ready to roll up their sleeves and who want to make a difference. We are currently hiring for full-time Construction Laborers to work out of our New Castle, DE, Wilmington, DE, and Philadelphia, PA locations.
This position may require overnight travel.
Operate backhoe/plow/trencher/directional drill
Dig pits, trenches and/or indentations manually or mechanically
Safely identify utilities in the trench/bore path.
Pothole utilities, public and private facilities
Place and cables
Restore and landscape disturbed areas of the jobsite
Perform site set-up and clean-up
Clean vehicles, trailers, tools and equipment
Safely and correctly direct traffic with appropriate signage (flagging)
Follow all safety rules at all times.
The employee shall not engage in unsafe acts.
Attend and participate in all safety meetings and training.
Use all prescribed safety equipment that is required to safely do the job at hand.
Report unsafe acts or conditions to his or her immediate Supervisor or Safety Personnel.
Report any and all injuries, accidents and/or incidents immediately
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. May require walking on an uneven surfaces for periodic periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for long periods of time required. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 75 lbs.
The performance of this position may require exposure to areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as hard hats, vests, safety shoes, and safety glasses will be required. Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) for extended periods of time. Work performed near roadways, electrical lines, heavy equipment and uncontrolled vehicles.
