Job Description

Summary:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for auditing and maintaining ISO compliant processes and standards for business process, production, development, and general operations. You will work with all levels of the organization to develop and manage best practice TQM, Lean process, and Six Sigma methodologies. Must have the ability to apply key Lean/Six Sigma concepts to improve existing processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Advanced Product Quality Planning and Program Development

Lead, plan, organize, and participate in the APQP design and development stages for new products or products with significant engineering changes, insuring that customer requirements are met, using the APQP plan
Coordinate sample submissions of new product and engineering changes with customers and AIC engineering resources
Development of Control Plans, Process Flows, PFMEAs, and other required PPAP or qualifying documentation
Participate in PPAP process and maintain PPAP documentation for automotive customers and others who require TFAT, EI/OQ/PQ, and other production qualification requirements

Quality Control

Provide guidance to inspectors, operators, processors, and supervisors regarding customer agreed specifications
Train inspection personnel on inspection methods and criteria for products
Ensure that products meet customer needs and expectations

Quality Management System

Quality management of the company’s products including developing and managing measurement systems that incorporate Customer’s View of Quality, in-process manufacturing quality and machine capability.
Lead initiatives in the quality management system, including compliance to ISO 9001 and any other certifications
Perform supplier quality assurance audits for assigned suppliers, when necessary
Work with Manager to develop corrective actions to support supplier problems and failures, suggesting modifications and corrective actions by suppliers to meet customer specifications and standards
Meet with suppliers, customers, quality representative, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems
When necessary, implement corrective action plans and monitor the effectiveness of the solutions
Support internal audits and the internal audit schedule
Maintain controls and documentation procedures
Quality records maintenance and document control
Use Six Sigma analysis to identify and resolve quality issues
Perform GRR to verify measurement system capabilities
Develop and monitor SPC initiatives for certain products

Leadership

Kaizen leader
Responsible for contributing to and promoting a high performance team
Be a liaison between manufacturing and quality control
Participate on teams that require technical expertise
Maintain a high level of professionalism
Promote and participate actively in continuous improvement
Maintain working relationships with other department personnel
Perform other tasks as directed by manager
Overtime is required
Some travel may be required on occasion

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible for supervision Floor Inspectors
