What will you be doing?

Job Description

-Entry

Level Engineering Position. Assist in the evaluation, design, and construction

of new and replacement infrastructure projects. Coordinates between SWDE

departments and regulatory authorities. Tracks

compliance with plans, specifications, schedule, and costs. Completes hydraulic

modelling assessments as required. Dimensions:

Education/Equivalent:

High School

Minimum: Two-Year

Associates Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering Technology or

equivalent

Nature

& Scope-Principal Areas of Responsibilities:

Assists in design and

layout of water distribution facilities.

Prepares cost

estimates from design drawings.

Incorporates project schedule

into Microsoft Project. Incorporates project estimates into Power Plan software

for intercompany approval.

Assists in schedule,

cost, and milestone tracking for new and replacement infrastructure projects. Tracks

work performed by outside contractors and ensures all invoices are

accurate. Monitors and tracks

expenditures during installation of facilities in accordance with Company

policies.

Provides construction

phase support to Field Coordinator in oversight of field activities for new and

replacement infrastructure projects. Activities may include field testing and

inspection, ensuring that outside contractors perform work in accordance with

the design drawings and governmental policies and procedures, reviewing

as-builts of projects to determine accuracy, and ensuring accuracy of final GIS

data.

Uses the WaterGEMs

hydraulic modelling to understand the transmission and distributions system, to

support engineering and other department decisions, and to assist in program

development including Hydraulic Flushing and Non-Revenue Water.

Assists in the

evaluation and design of Engineering Projects. Performs investigations, reviews

technologies, and prepares technical memos to present evaluations and

recommendations.

Drafts Request for

Proposals for support services (examples: Survey, Design), evaluates results,

and facilitates execution.

Assists in the

development and prepares draft documents of Engineering Standard Operating

Procedures (SOPs).
