Suzuki Farms LLC, Delmar, DE. 12 temporary farmworker openings. From 3/15/2020 – 11/30/2020. Farmworker will plant, cultivate, harvest, and perform similar activities associated with organic Japanese vegetable farming in 6 green houses spanned across the farms 58 acres. Utilizing of hand tools, gardening tools to perform duties, no operation of machinery involved. May spread ground coverings. Picks, cuts, lifts or pulls crops to harvest as well as preparing soil growth mediums. Worker will perform variable tasks such as shoveling, hauling, weeding, cleaning, greenhouse structure, seed beds or racks, incidentals crop set up, gardening and other tasks related to greenhouse operations. Applicants must be able carry loads up to 40 lbs. Position requires extensive pushing, pulling, walking and stooping and exposure to extreme temperatures.
1 mth of experience. $13.34/hr. 6 hours a day for 6 days a week.
Housing provided at no cost to workers and those workers in corresponding employment who are unable to return to their place of residence the same day.
Tools, equipment and supplies provided at no cost to worker, for work day only, stored and maintained at farm.
Employer guarantee 3/4 workdays of contract. Drugs & alcohol free work zone. Required to show proof legal authorization to work in United States. Transportation & subsistence expenses ($12.46 daily w/o receipts, and $55.00 daily with receipts) to the worksites will be paid by the employer upon completion of 50% of the work contract, or earlier; Daily meals will be provided at a rate of at least $12.46 per day of travel or the current minimum subsistence amount published in the Federal Register, to a maximum of $55.00 per day or the current maximum amount published in the Federal Register to workers with acceptable receipts.
The payroll period is biweekly. Employer will offer 36 hours per week.
The worker may be offered more than the stated hours per day, depending on weather and other conditions. The employer will make all deductions from worker’s paycheck required by law. The workers are covered by Unemployment Insurance and Workers Compensation.
The employer agrees that no extension of employment beyond the period of employment shown on the job order will relieve the employer from paying the wages already earned, or specified in the job order as a term of employment, providing transportation or paying transportation expenses to the workers home.
The employer assures that all working conditions comply with applicable federal and state minimum wage, child labor, social security, health and safety, farm labor contractor registration and other employment related laws. Employer will comply with first week wage guarantee; Return transportation and subsistence is paid upon completion of 100% of the work contract. The employer will furnish cooking facilities, utilities and utensils for workers to prepare their own meals, residing in the Apartments. The employer is to provide workers with a copy of the work contract, including any approved modifications, on the day work commences or as soon as practically possible.
