HealthCore, Inc, a health services research firm headquartered in Wilmington, DE is currently seeking an Associate Research Director to work for its Translational Research for Affordability and Quality (TRAQ) group in our Wilmington, DE office. Founded in 1996, and now an independently-operating subsidiary of Anthem, Inc.,HealthCore provides the health care system, biopharmaceutical industry, academia, and the Federal Government agencies (PCORI, FDA, NIH) with “real-world” data to improve the quality, safety, and affordability of healthcare. HealthCore’s projects range from retrospective to large-scale, prospective studies in the areas of drug, and medical device safety health outcomes and comparative effectiveness research.

Position may be located in either our Wilmington, DE or Alexandria, VA locations.

Responsible for overseeing development and execution of rigorous health economics research studies in the area of insurance benefit design, provider reimbursements, policy and program evaluations, socioeconomic drivers of health, and behavioral economics. Research involves use of claims data and linkage with other large datasets.

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

+ Collaborates with health plan, employers,healthcare provider partners, and academic institution stakeholders to understand needs related to economics of health, healthcare use, health insurance design, and behavioral responses to health plan interventions.

+ Ensures state-of-the-art econometric techniques and study designs are applied appropriately to answer policy and business needs.

+ Mentors junior associates on the team, including Health Economists, Data Scientists, and Analysts.

+ Oversees management of the portfolio of research projects including project status, quality, and deliverables. Communicates project status, timelines, analysis results, and value messages to internal and external customers or partners.

+ Executes the vision and contributes to the design of research studies in concert with health plan, provider, academic, and government clients.

+ Ensures HealthCore’s processes are followed in all areas of the project lifecycle.

+ Identifies opportunities for internal and external dissemination of research findings to various audiences to increase actionability of work product.

Requires a MS, MPH, PharmD, Ph.D, or MD in business or a life sciences field; 5+ years of experience in health service research, public health, health policy, economics or related field, PhD in economics or health economics highly preferred. 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in leading research project teams, including managing client interactions; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
