6 temporary Livestock Farmworker fulltime openings. Harrington, DE., 12/17/2019 – 4/30/2020. erform any of the following tasks to attend to livestock, such as cattle on farm. Maintain heated watering system. Operate snow removal equipment in order to operate feed wagons. Mix feed and additives, fill feed troughs with feed and water for livestock and remove ice formed in water. Drive feed commodities from mill to feedlots. Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries. Vaccinate animals by placing vaccine in drinking water or feed using syringes and hypodermic needles. Apply medications to cuts and bruises, spray livestock with insecticide. Confine livestock in stalls wash and clip them to prepare them for calving and assist veterinarian in delivery of offspring. Bind or clamp testes or surgically remove testes to castrate livestock. Clip identifying notches or symbols on animal, or brand animal, using branding iron, to indicate ownership. Clean livestock stalls and sheds, using disinfectant solutions, brushes and shovels. Maintain buildings and equipment. Maintain breeding, feeding and costs records. Drive semi’s of finished cattle from feedlots to harvesting facilities.
Must obtain a CDL within 30-90 days of hire. Minimum 3 months experience. No minimum education required. Once hired, worker may be required to take random drug test at no cost to the worker since it is a liability on insurance. Must speak English. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Lifting requirements of 60lbs.
For the entire duration of the work contract, transportation from the housing location to the work site and back each day will be provided at no cost to the worker.
Housing and utilities are provided at no cost to workers who are unable to return to their place of residence the same day. If both male and female workers are hired, separate toilets, shower facilities and sleeping rooms will be provided by the employer.
Tools, supplies, and equipment provided at no charge to the workers. 48 hours/wk. 8 hours per day, 6 days per week, is normal. The worker may be requested but not required to work additional hours and/or on the Sabbath or federal holidays, depending upon the conditions in the fields or orchards, weather and maturity of the crop. $13.80/hr. no bonuses. The employer guarantees to offer employment for minimum of 3/4 of the workdays of the total specified period during which the work contract and all extensions thereof are in effect, beginning with the first day after worker arrives at the place of employment and ending on the expiration date specified in the work contract or extensions thereof. In Act of God termination, the 3/4 guarantee period ends on the date of termination. Free transportation will be provided from the housing location to the work site and return each day. The employer will provide advance transportation for reasonable common carrier or other transportation which conforms to the Interstate Commerce Commission inbound transportation if it is the prevailing practice. If not the prevailing practice, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation costs and subsistence to the employer’s work site when the work completes 50% of the work period. The employer must pay the worker for reasonable costs incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the US or abroad, to the place of employment. Workers who voluntarily quit or are terminated for cause prior to completing 50% of the contract period will be required to reimburse the employer for the full amounts of transportation and subsistence which were advanced and/or reimbursed to the worker. Workers will purchase food and prepare meals in employer provided fully equipped kitchen. Employers will make sure workers have access to a grocery store at least once per week. Transportation & subsistence expenses ($12.46 daily w/o receipts, and $55.00 daily with receipts) to the worksites will be paid by the employer upon completion of 50% of the work contract, or earlier; Daily meals will be provided at a rate of at least $12.46 per day of travel or the current minimum subsistence amount published in the Federal Register, to a maximum of $55.00 per day or the current maximum amount published in the Federal Register to workers with acceptable receipts. Transportation between housing and worksite will be provided daily at no cost to the worker.
The payroll period is biweekly. Workers are paid on Friday by check. The employer will make all deductions from worker’s paycheck required by law. The workers are covered by Unemployment Insurance and Workers Compensation. The employer agrees that no extension of employment beyond the period of employment shown on the job order will relieve the employer from paying the wages already earned, or specified in the job order as a term of employment, providing transportation or paying transportation expenses to the workers home.
The employer assures that all working conditions comply with applicable federal and state minimum wage, child labor, social security, health and safety, farm labor contractor registration and other employment related laws.
Employer will comply with first week wage guarantee. Return transportation and subsistence is paid upon completion of 100% of the work contract.
The employer will furnish cooking facilities, utilities and utensils for workers to prepare their own meals.
Employer will provide transportation to grocery or laundry mat, if not provided facilities in housing. Employer will furnish the worker on or before each payday writing hours and earnings statements.
The employer is to provide workers with a copy of the work contract, including any approved modifications, on the day work commences or as soon as practically possible.
