We are seeking a Recreation Therapist for SUN Behavioral Delaware – a free-standing 90 bed inpatient behavioral health hospital opening soon. This is a unique opportunity to create a positive culture and develop a highly skilled and committed team. This position reports to the Director of Clinical Services. SUN Behavioral offers inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services for adults and seniors; including mental health, substance use disorder and specialty programs.
This position is required to have a strong knowledge of psycho-social, cognitive and/or developmental disorders and physical disabilities. Ability to perform and appropriate assessment on all patients as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments as per policy. Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect, recommends change to physician if needed. Knowledge and proficiency of all recreational therapy modalities. Ensures quality patient/client care that follows regulatory requirements, professional standards and the facility’s policies and procedures.
Provide recreational activities for patients in a behavioral health setting
Assist patients in understanding and developing good health and fitness through retraction therapy
Implementing therapeutic recreation programs
Maintain all recreation therapy equipment
Complete assessments, treatment plans and all applicable documentation accurately and timely
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Additional languages preferred.
Strong written and verbal skills.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, strong in Excel; data analysis.
Must be able to manage multiple details and to demonstrate superior organizational skills.
