FHI 360 is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position Early Childhood Specialist.
The Office of Head Start Region IV Training and Technical Assistance (T/TA) network provides local grantees with high-quality, sustained, and intensive training and technical assistance. T/TA is provided to individual grantees, to clusters of grantees with similar interests, and at state and regional events. Region IV grantees are located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
The Early Childhood Specialist will provide technical assistance related to the selection and implementation of an age, developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate curriculum(s) inclusive of the requirements of the Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework, the Head Start Program Performance Standards and other regulations across the birth to five spectrums.
+ Provide technical assistance related to the selection and implementation of ongoing child assessment processes that are age, developmentally, linguistically and culturally appropriate to the population(s) served and inclusive of the domains of the Head Start Child Outcomes Framework. Assistance provided to grantees may also include technical assistance related to the use of this information for the purpose of individualizing for children across the birth to five spectrum in center-based, family child care, and home-based settings;
+ Provide training and technical assistance to improve teacher/child interactions as described by the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) for center based preschool programs and other measures available that are suitable for programs serving children from birth to three or children in home based and family child care settings;
+ Assist grantees in developing procedures and skills necessary to aggregate, analyze, and use data obtained through multiple sources including but not limited to ongoing child assessment, CLASS, child health, PIR, and family engagement data for the purpose of informing teaching, curriculum implementation, progress reports for parents, staff development and training, and other aspects of program improvement;
+ Assist grantees in developing and implementing mentoring and coaching strategies designed to improve the quality of teacher/home visitor/family child care provider performance, classroom quality, and outcomes for children, including children with disabilities and children who are dual language learners;
+ Assist grantees in implementing family engagement that is systemic, integrated and comprehensive across program systems and services in support of successful home-school partnerships and children’s school readiness;
+ Assist programs in implementing goals and strategies that are data driven, support family progress, and relate to program and family targeted Parent Family and Community (PFCE)Framework Outcomes;
+ Assist programs in developing relationship-based competencies for partnering with families; and
+ Incorporate other tasks specific to early childhood education reflective of evolving national priorities as presented by the Office of Head Start, National Centers, Regional Offices and/or aggregate regional assessment data.
+ Bachelor’s degree from accredited universities in Education, Early Childhood Education/Development, Psychology, social sciences, or any other related field from an accredited university or college.
+ Typically requires a minimum of 8+ years of managing data collection and technical assistance experience.
+ Proficiency with database management software and on-line search tools required. Has sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues in assigned areas. Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.
+ Must have infant toddler experience. Experience designing and implementing programs for infants and toddlers preferred.
+ Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
+ Experience working across the birth to five spectrum preferred.
+ Experience working with children with disabilities in Head Start programs and dual language learners highly desired.
+ Experience working in a non-governmental organization (NGO).
+ Position will require at least 50% of travel.
Offer will be contingent on award of proposal and approval of funder.
