The HVAC Mechanic II installs, maintains, diagnoses, and repairs all residential and industrial heating, ventilation air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, which includes pneumatic and Building Automation Controls (DDC). The position requires knowledge of chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, pumps, pneumatic and electric valves. Works independently and as a team to troubleshoot, repair and overhaul equipment.
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must have successfully completed a minimum of 576 hours of HVAC related classroom instruction and a minimum of 8000 hours of related trade work over a four year apprenticeship training period. Must have Journeyman’s Certificate OR be eligible for & pass the Apprenticeship Bypass Exam within 12 months of hire. Must possess a Universal EPA refrigerant recovery certification. Due to insurance carrier requirements, all staff must be at least 21 years of age with a current class D driver’s license with no more than 3 moving violations or accidents in the past 3 years.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities· Ability to diagnose problems and perform repairs as necessary.
· Ability to work independently and make decisions.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics. Able to read gauges and instruments.
· Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English
· Able to perform air flow analysis. (Preferred) Able to perform testing, adjusting, and balancing of air handling equipment.
· (Preferred) Related electrical and plumbing knowledge. Working knowledge of local and state regulations and codes.
