DATA COLLECTION JOBS: There are two types of positions (considered data collection jobs), ENUMERTORS and CENSUS FIELD SUPERVISORS:1. Enumerators will…+ Use automated devices (e.g. smartphones or laptop computers) to conduct job activities.+ Review assigned work to locate households for verifying addresses and/or conducting interviews.+ Conduct interviews with residents in assigned areas by following stringent guidelines and confidentiality laws.+ Explain the purpose of the census interview, answer respondant’s questions, collect information following a script,and record census data using electronic devices and/or paper forms.+ Update address lists and maps.+ Validates address and map updates for quality purposes.+ Follow procedures .to conduct accurate work while maintaining acceptable production rates.+ Maintain and submit records of hours worked, miles driven, and expenses incurred in the performance of duties.+ Meet/talk with supervisors, as necessary, to review procedures, report issues or concerns, and to receive additionalinstructions. – - – - – -2. Census Field Supervisors will…+ Use automated devices (e.r. tablets, smartphones, or laptop computers) to conduct job activities.+ Supervise enumerators, including reviewing their work.+ Facilitate group training sessions using Census Bureau training guides and materials.+ Conduct personal observations of Enumerators as they work in the field and conduct on-the-job training.+ Submit requests for replacement workers and ensure operations are staffed to maintain workflow.+ Monitor the progress and performance of assigned staff and ensure assignments are completed on schedule and within qualitystandards.+ Monitor and resolve alerts (notices of potential issues) by following up with assigned staff.+ Provide instructions to Enumerators for improving production and performance to meet deadlines and quality standards.+ Check to ensure Enumerators are performing as expected.+ Conduct retraining of Enumerators, as necessary.+ Recommend and document termination of poor performing employees.+ Apply Equal Employment Opportunity principles in hiring practices, training, and employee development.
