Principal Associate, Corporate Reconciliation Management

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join the Central Accounting Corporate Reconciliations Team as a Principal Associate. The PA would be a self-starter responsible for managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced time sensitive environment. This role will have the opportunity to engage with groups across the organization as part of key business processes and initiatives. The PA will be responsible for managing a team of associates and will be responsible for completion and accuracy of Capital One’s Corporate and Non-LOB Reconcilions.

Responsibilities of this role include:

+ Day to day leadership and oversight of the Corporate Reconciliation team; understanding business and accounting implications of transactions.

+ Manage activities between team and corporate partners to ensure reconciliations are completed, issues are resolved timely and ensure the general ledger is correct.

+ Assist in testing efforts related to business integrations, system enhancements and new products

+ Review monthly balance sheet variance analysis on accounts and processes as required

+ Evaluate business-as-usual processes to drive process improvements, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with the team’s control framework

+ Utilize reporting tools to track and analyze process health, while creating relevant reporting for actionable decision-making by company leaders.

+ Lead and develop a team of two onshore associates and manage a team offshore performers. Identify skill gaps in the team and ensure that these gaps are consistently and objectively addressed through performance improvement plans, coaching and training.

+ Effectively communicate with leadership and influence partners across the company and across multiple levels of the organization.

Additionally, you should have:

+ Proficiency in personal computer skills and general financial system knowledge, with particular emphasis on PeopleSoft general ledger, ReconPlus, Tableau, MS Office software, and/or GSuite products.

+ Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment are essential to succeeding in this role.

+ Ability to deal with personnel at all levels, exercise discretion on confidential matters and advocate ‘leadership at all levels’ across the team.

Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelors Degree or military experience

+ At least 2 years of accounting or finance experience

+ At least 1 year of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Masters Degree in Accounting or Finance

+ At least 2 years of experience banking reconciliations, or at least 3 years of experience in account reconciliations

+ CPA Certification
