Description

As a member of our SOX Project Management Office (PMO), the Internal Controls Manager is primarily responsible for the design and implementation of controls, preparation of internal control risk assessments, preparing and completing the annual SOX Compliance Testing Plan, and evaluating control deficiencies to ensure the adequacy of internal controls over financial reporting.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts interviews with key process owners to obtain an understanding of the current processes and clearly document results of interviews.
  • Performs process walkthroughs, which includes, but is not limited to, analyzing current operating processes and policies to ensure processes are operating as documented.
  • Analyzes control changes to ensure there are no additional risks as a result of the change.
  • Executes tests of design and operating effectiveness for key controls and summarizes results through management of a co-source partner.
  • Identifies key control failures and communicates to the Chief Audit Executive (CAE) in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates the work of the co-source partner to ensure accuracy of documentation and communicates the results and conclusion of all work performed in accordance with workpaper documentation standards.
  • Refines key controls and oversees the continuous improvement of SOX financial reporting processes and procedures, including maintenance of the SOX Risk and Control Matrices.
  • Assists the CAE in communicating the results of SOX testing via written reports.
  • Pursues professional development opportunities, including external and internal training and professional association memberships, and s information gained with co- workers.
  • Assists the CAE with periodic reporting to the audit committee.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum five years of demonstrated internal controls experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related area.
  • Understanding of the concepts of the COSO 2013 Framework and the ability to them on a consistent basis.
  • Understanding of internal control concepts and experience in ing them to perform and report on the evaluation of various business processes/areas/functions.
  • Understanding of and ability to sampling techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team environment and independently with required direction and guidance.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of IT general and application controls.
  • Ability to recognize and communicate control weaknesses.
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities under pressure.
  • Ability to act independently, be self-motivated, and motivate others.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work and communicate with Finance and business process owners.
  • Business acumen to understand business risk and challenges, and recognize corporate opportunities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel on a global basis 25% of the time.

Desired Qualifications:

  • “Big 4” public accounting/consulting experience.
  • Professional certification (CPA / CIA).
  • Knowledge of and experience working with SAP.
  • Prior industry experience.
