Interested in a career in technology but don’t know where to start?

CSC has partnered with Zip Code Wilmington to send two of our employees through their coding bootcamp. The program runs for 12 weeks beginning February 2020. CSC will cover the cost of the program and the employee’s salary during the program. Upon graduating the employees will be offered technology roles at CSC. Below we have answered some anticipated questions you might have.

Zip Code will host an information session in our HQ to discuss their program and answer any of your questions. There will be members and alumni from the Zip Code program at the information session. You can also read more about the program on their website

What is Zip Code?

Zip Code Wilmington is a 12 week coding bootcamp in Downtown Wilmington. Zip Code coaches everyday, motivated people from diverse backgrounds into skilled, professional developers. You will learn programming language, both in frontend and backend applications.

Do I need to know how to code or have a technical background to apply?

No. Zip Code will provide you with the resources to familiarize yourself with the fundamentals and coding skills necessary to be considered for their program. Zip Code alumni have come from all different backgrounds- musicians, customer service, engineers, warehouse employees, from high school graduates to PhDs.

What is the time commitment?

During the 12 week program, class hours are Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. There are also occasional required evening events. Students must also complete labs, reading assignments, group projects, and other work outside of class hours. It is an immersive learning environment. To be successful in the program, students must be prepared to work evenings and weekends.

+ Speak with your leader about your interest.

+ Get started by applying through CSC internal careers site.

+ Attend one of the infosessions on September 19.

+ A member from the HR team will reach out for an initial screening and next steps.

+ Once selected the employees will take an online assessment through Zip Code.

+ Upon passing the assessment the employee will be ready to go through the February cohort.

Will I still get paid? What about my benefits?

Yes, you will be paid your salary while attending the program. You will still receive all of your current benefits.

Will I still come in to CSC to perform my current role?

No, due to the time commitment of the Zip Code program this will replace your current job.

What is the cost of the program?

There is no cost to you as the employee. CSC will cover the cost of the program.

What’s next after graduation?

Upon graduating from the program you will be offered a Technology role at CSC.
