Primary responsibilities will be leading, designing and implementing security solutions (both technologies and processes) for W.R. Berkley companies, with the goal of maturing the company’s security frameworks and reference architectures. Work closely with infrastructure architecture / engineering / operations / compliance / business segment leads to identify risks to the business and drive solutions to mitigate those risks. Lead team of Security Architects and Consultants to partner with security and technology efforts across the firm.
The right candidate for this position will have an inherent curiosity and drive in the security space and will know how to work autonomously within the technical, project management, regulatory and stakeholder management responsibilities with an eye towards developing secure solutions through sound architecture and engineering practices. This position will require a roll-up your sleeves approach with someone that is not afraid to work hard and work in multiple different capacities across the technology, process and people aspects of the business and technology requirements while also leading a team of SMEs.
+ 10+ years of progressive Security and IT Risk experience in security technology, architecture and engineering space with a thorough understanding across all Security domains
+ 5+ years of leading Security Architecture and or Engineering functions.
+ Serve as the Security Lead in the design, implementation and integration phases of WRBC products to meet client and firm security requirements, address corporate risks and exposures in on-premise and cloud-based solutions
+ Serve as a liaison and primary point of contact between WRBC Security and Risk and WRBC Technology on security related matters
+ Interact and consult with clients, project teams, WRBC partners and other senior members of the firm to provide advice on security and assist with compensating control alternatives where security requirements cannot be met
+ Serve as the Security expert across security architecture functional areas; credential management, access provisioning, authentication and authorization, data loss prevention (DLP), application security, infrastructure security, data security, security monitoring, operations security, cloud services, web application firewall (WAF), cloud access security broker (CASB), vulnerability management, vulnerability remediation, Office 365
+ Serve as escalation for the risk assessment team as it relates to outstanding security risks
+ Problem management – diagnosis, root-cause elimination activity, escalation, tracking and permanent resolution of complex incidents
+ Regularly collaborates with business partners to define Security solutions to mitigate ongoing threats
+ Coordinates the security planning and delivery of multi-year, multi system solutions for multiple businesses/operating units
+ Regularly and proactively introduces security procedures, technologies to assertively protect internal and external business threats. Knowledge and/or experience with application development
+ Provide technical security expertise around communicating security architectural decisions, benefits, risks and other activities include vendor reviews, security requirement definition and facilitation of security testing and management of residual risk
+ Prepared to document and memorialize recommendations, root cause analysis efforts, risk assessments and manage remediation efforts where downstream work is required
+ Review new technologies for implementation by the security, technology and business functions
+ Excellent leadership/stakeholder management qualities – able to engage with credibility, influence and effectively collaborate with business and technical staff at all levels
+ Highly organized and detail oriented – able to function under pressure, trouble shoot, emplace structure where necessary and prioritize between competing activities
+ Approachable and outgoing with excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Takes ownership and maintains accountability
+ Proven self-starter with energy, passion and drive

Minimum Qualifications (Education/Experience/Certification/Skills):
+ 10+ years of progressive experience in computing and information security, including experience with Internet technology and security issues.
+ Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent.
+ Typical Certifications: CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, GISP,
+ Experience with SIEM Technologies – ArcSight, QRadar
+ Experience with advanced next generation Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools – Carbon Black, Cy
+ Experience with metrics and dashboarding capabilities in or other tools
+ Experience with CASB, DLP, and other common security tools
+ Experience with firewall capabilities – CheckPoint, Cisco ASA
+ Experience with Vulnerability management program and technologies -Qualys, Tenable
+ Experience with building and maturing Secure-SDLC, pen testing and vulnerability management capabilities and programs
+ Experience consulting with business and technology stakeholders to build and implement secure solutions
