The Global Accounting & Performance team (‘GAP’) provides accounting and performance measurement services to clients across the financial services spectrum, from funds through to separate accounts, where a shadow accounting service is performed, and outsourced financial accounting for insurance clients.
This role is part of the Investment Accounting Services (‘AS’) team within GAP, responsible for delivering outsourced financial accounting services to insurance companies who are clients of BlackRock Solutions.
Key responsibilities of Accounting Services team include: business development to identify new clients; implementation and project management to onboard new clients and support existing client requests; senior relationship management to maintain effective interaction with clients; development of client metrics, regular communication with clients, oversight of regulatory and accounting pronouncements to ensure compliance, and identification of process improvements to enhance the overall service offering.
+ Management of Client Relationships from an overall accounting perspective
+ Build and maintain relationship and regular communication with key personnel at each client and internal stakeholders to effectively manage client expectations
+ Meet with client and internal stakeholders to discuss overall relationship, new initiatives, accounting questions and concerns, client relationship targets, etc.
+ Conduct regular business reviews to ensure clients are satisfied with the service offering and obtain feedback
+ Prepare for regular client meetings/relationship reviews; ensure each meeting is documented and follow up items addressed
+ Develop action plans to address and escalate feedback provided by the client
+ Develop strong understanding of assigned clients and accounting processes – including portfolio structure, objectives, and accounting requirements
+ Assist clients in various ad-hoc analyses and provide input relating to the treatment and impact of accounting pronouncements and reporting requirements
+ Provide clear concise feedback to client requests
+ Serve as a liaison between the client and the various BlackRock teams assigned to support the client to ensure excellent client service and client satisfaction
+ Complete administrative tasks relating to clients
+ Monthly client metrics
+ Relationship overview/summary
+ Client invoicing review
+ Distribute accounting updates, service model enhancements, and industry thought leadership topics to clients
+ VP-equivalent or higher prior to work break; or 7+ years relevant experience
+ 2+ year voluntary career break
+ BS degree in Finance or Accounting; or related experience
+ Knowledge of insurance and disclosure reporting as it relates to investments
+ Familiarity with GAAP/STAT/IFRS financial statements and accounting policies as it relates to investments
+ Understanding of various investment types – including fixed income, derivatives, alternatives, mortgage loans, equities, etc.
+ Strong and effective communication skills to deal directly with clients and across all levels of staff and management
+ Ability to prioritize assignments without losing sight of overall objectives and deadlines and time management skills
+ Strong decision-making skills to make well thought out decisions based on information provided
+ Strong attention to detail and project management skills
+ Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
+ Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products
+ Travel to clients as necessary
