Job Description


The Project Engineer is responsible for working with all levels of the organization to develop and manage projects, processes, and automation. Must have leadership skills that are consistent and decisive while maintaining a mentoring/coaching environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Be a liaison between manufacturing and engineering
• Responsible for training of technical resources
• Use Lean/Six Sigma methodologies for process development and problem solving
• Use engineering methods to optimize cycle times, reduce scrap, and downtime
• Participate on teams that require technical expertise
• Responsible for creating and maintaining associated department procedures
• Maintain a high level of professionalism
• Manage assigned projects to meet designated timelines
• Schedule and execute regular progress meetings for project implementation
• Design and develop automation for assigned projects
• Promote a high level of communication between departments to execute customer orders
• Promote and participate actively in continuous improvement
• Maintain working relationships with other department managers and personnel
• Perform other tasks as directed by manager
• Overtime is required
• Some travel may be required on occasion

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None
• Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment


• Ability to interpret part prints, quality plans, work instructions, and apply the knowledge appropriately
• Ability to develop and write work procedures and train personnel
• Proficient in use of Office software including word processing and spreadsheets
• Proficient with project management software
• Must possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills to interact within all levels of the organization
• Working knowledge of CAD/Solid works
• Demonstrated experience in formalized problem solving
• Ability to program robots or PLC and exchange end-of-arm tooling
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001-2015

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma required
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent technical training/experience
• Engineering experience of 3-5 years preferred
• Lean/Six Sigma training/certification preferred

Mathematical Skills:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
• Ability to perform highly complex applications of percentages, averages, ratios, volumes, torque, and other engineering calculations

Reasoning Ability:

• Ability to deal with ambiguous situations, make decisions and take charge of production situations with clear and calm demeanor

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training preferred

Physical Demands:

• Extended hours sitting and viewing a computer screen, repetitive hand and wrist movements.
• Standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, lifting up to 100 pounds regularly

Work Environment:

• Manufacturing environment with associated noises, smells, and temperatures
