This Open Continuous Announcement is a for full-time Primary Care
Physicians to work in various locations as needed.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,
however the schedule is subject to change based on patient or
facility needs.

  1. Responsibilities

The Wilmington VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time Primary Care
Physician to provide care to a defined panel of patients at various
locations located in Wilmington, Delaware or our Community Based
Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located in Kent County Delaware, Sussex
County, Delaware, Vineland, New Jersey, Northfield, New Jersey and
Cape May, New Jersey. The responsibilities of this position include:

- Works as a member of a primary care team consisting of clerical
staff, nurses, physicians, social workers, and clinical
pharmacists.
- Provides or coordinates all aspects of the patient’s care
including preventive, urgent, and routine care including women’s
healthcare.
- Must meet access, quality, efficiency, satisfaction, and other
standards of performance established by the Veterans Health
Administration.
- This position may include participation in the provision of
telemedicine care to outlying communities as well as occasional
travel to other VA clinics to provide clinical coverage.
- This position may also support residency training of affiliated
medical universities and programs.

  1. Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed
when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in
accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting
from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools
approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in
which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or
surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United
States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by
the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core
specialty training program leading to eligibility for board
certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Physical requirements outlined below.

Preferred Experience: Primary Experience preferred preferred.

Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part
II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found
in the local Human Resources Office.

Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting (45 lbs and over); reaching
above shoulder; use of fingers; walking (3 hours per day); standing
(6 hours per day); kneeling (2 hours per day); both legs required;
ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously;
near vision correctable at 13" to 16"; far vision correctable in one
eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; ability to distinguish basic
colors; hearing (aid permitted).
