Electrical Engineer (Job Number: 204242W-01)

Description

The Global Engineering Technology (GET) team in DuPont’s Safety & Construction (S&C) business is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join us at our Wilmington, Delaware offices. The Safety & Construction business is home to iconic brands such as Corian®, Kevlar®, Nomex®, and Tyvek®, as well as innovative water filtration and building solution products. Members of GET provide critical engineering support to the design, construction, and enhancement of S&C manufacturing operations across the globe.

The Electrical Engineer will provide support to the engineering, design, startup, and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems, including technical support to capital projects and/or plant operations. Candidates should have interest and/or familiarity with electrical power technologies, including electrical system analysis, low voltage and medium voltage switchgear, distribution transformers, protective relays, motor control centers, motors, adjustable speed drives, electrical heating including heat tracing, and lighting.

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.

The successful candidate is expected to have the following qualifications:

+ 5 – 10 years of experience in the Chemical Process or related industries with working knowledge of electrical equipment.Prior capital project experience is preferred.

+ Able to perform short circuit, load flow and voltage drop, motor starting, relay coordination, and arc flash studies.

+ Understanding of concepts used to minimize arc flash energies and exposures as pertaining to electrical system design.

+ Able to write specification / technical requisitions suitable for purchasing equipment found in a typical industrial facility’s electrical distribution system, from the purchased power substation down to bulk materials such as cable tray, lighting fixtures, field hand stations, fire alarms, site security, CCTV, etc.

+ Familiarity with area classification and associated electrical system installation methodologies.

+ Ability to read electrical drawings and create them in sketch form if necessary to convey meaning and information.

+ Prior experience working with an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracting company on a project where detailed engineering and design was being performed.(Preferred qualification is to have been embedded.)

+ Have performed detailed reviews for completeness of EPC contractor specifications, calculations, and construction drawings.

+ Understanding of the typical overall capital project process and prior experience working with multidisciplinary engineering design teams, including field investigations, writing scopes of work for estimating, preliminary design development, scheduling, and production design documents needed to create construction deliverables.

+ Working knowledge of NFPA 70 and 70E.

+ Familiarity with grounding and bonding systems as well as electrical systems that are solidly grounded, low-resistance grounded, and high-resistance grounded.

Other preferred abilities:

+ Trained in using electrical system modeling software such as SKM – Power Tool for Windows®.

+ Ability and interest in working in a collaborative lab / machine development design environment with mechanical engineers.

+ Ability and interest in working on promoting electrical safety within the company.

+ Demonstrated ability and understanding of PLC and DCS process control systems.

+ Structured cabling and communications equipment as it pertains to connecting electrical distribution equipment to PLCs and DCS process control systems.(i.e., smart motor control centers and protective relaying networks in switchgear.)

+ Experience in commissioning of electrical distribution systems once assembled on site.This can be experience in writing commissioning and testing procedures used by an NETA-certified testing company or actual hands-on experience using test equipment such as a relay test set, insulation resistance testers, Doble, TTR, and DLRO.

+ Sufficient understanding of electrically-related RAGAGEP standards to represent S&C in the development and improvement of corporate standards and guidelines.

The role is based in Wilmington, Delaware and will involve domestic and international travel. Travel needs will typically average 20-25% but may occasionally reach 50% as needed to support critical project activities.
