Job Description

Role Summary:The Manufacturing Tech will perform various production tasks such as tape winding, verifying QC requirements, testing, measuring, and mixing chemicals to make the slurry used in tape making and casting matrix polymer. This person will also directly support the Cell Leader in executing daily operational tasks, including but not limited to Safety, Quality, and Production.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, as the Manufacturing Tech – Tape Winding, you will:

+ Learn and be able to mix slurry compound according to operating procedures while meeting direct rate expectations, and batches mixed and tested per hour

+ Learn and be able to cast matrix plys according to process standard work

+ Learn and be able to wind tow filament into tapes on a tape winding machine while meeting expectations in terms of rate / output according to process standard work

+ Learn and be able to inspect and classify tapes post winding, performing measurements on DTAD and other critical quality requirements

+ Use appropriate lifting devices and lift 50 lbs. safely using appropriate team lift when necessary

+ Work within a quality system, ensure use of calibrated gauges, & measuring devices

+ Use measuring equipment (scales, calibers, micrometers)

+ Be responsible for completing training requirements in all 4 winding processes in a timely fashion:

+ winding

+ post wind processing and testing (running)

+ casting matrix ply

+ and slurry mixing

+ Record accurate information in computer systems including but not limited to:

+ lot numbers

+ tool ID’s

+ part numbers

+ time spent on jobs

+ testing data

+ and quality issues on tapes etc.

+ Perform work to written technical instructions (OP’s, MPD’s, WP’s etc.) and any other pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job

+ Work with Engineering on occasion following verbal instructions

+ Be responsible for set-up and operation of work space, & production equipment

+ Record data on travelers, databases and all other computer systems as required

+ Participate in developing new methods to improve operation processes

+ Meet minimum productivity

+ direct rate

+ tapes per hour

+ batches of slurry per hours

+ matrix per hour, etc.

+ Meet quality standards according to weekly / monthly customer expectations, in a safe manner

+ Help in other areas as directed and required

+ Flexibility in schedule to work an offshift position – 2nd shift (6p-6a)


+ High school diploma / GED

+ One-year experience working in a manufacturing environment or training certificate applicable to Tape Winding or other applicable role in components


+ Ability and willingness to work an offshift position – 2nd shift (6p-6a)

+ Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
