ESM (Enterprise Systems Management) ServiceNow CMDB Engineer

Wilmington, DE

CSC currently has an opening for an ESM Operations ServiceNow CMDB Engineer within our Infrastructure division. The CMDB Engineer’s primary responsibility will be implementing, configuring, and maintaining all Service Now CMDB (Configuration Management Database) processes, work instructions and activities within the organization. As part of the management of the CMDB, this role will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and build relationships to promote close alignment with multiple lines of business. The candidate will also be actively involved supporting the others tools to include: HP BSM, Solarwinds, Splunk, and AppDynamics within the environment. This position is located at our headquarters in Wilmington, DE.

Core Focus ServiceNow CMDB Admin

+ Implement best practices to support a collection of up-to-date and inter-related configuration and change metrics in ServiceNow CMDB about IT infrastructure, applications, and business services to ensure data reliability, durability, and availability.

+ Support design, development, and implementation of automated processes for gathering, populating, and maintaining CMDB data.

+ Works with internal stakeholders to define and implement all mechanisms needed to ensure full control of the business owners Configurable Items (CI) and business requirements for the overall CMDB.

+ Reconcile CMDB data when exceptions are noted between CMDB, discovery information, and other authoritative production data repositories.

+ Assist in defining and registering of CIs: the appropriate level of attributes, and relationships required to support IT Service Management (ITSM) processes.

+ Integrates with the ITSM System team to ensure ITSM/CMDB alignment with ITIL v3 framework

+ Key stakeholder supporting CMDB tasks to include the configuration management plan and policy, communicating CMDB activities, and a liaison to third party partners/external suppliers.

Additional Responsibilities

+ Perform technical monitoring and reporting of SolarWinds usage across the department

+ Administration, support, and operation of the SolarWinds platform including:

+ Network Performance Monitor(NPM)

+ Network Configuration Manager

+ Server & Application Monitor(SAM) environment

+ NetFlow Traffic Analyzer and IP Address Manager

+ Web Performance Manager (WPM)

+ Collaborate within the team to build solutions that utilize SolarWinds optimally

+ Administration, support and operations of BSM platform including:

+ Platform administration of BSM and related components i.e. BPM’s

+ Load Runner/Vugen scripting development and troubleshooting

The ideal candidate will have…

+ 4+ years of experience in a CMDB focused role

+ 2+ years of experience in enterprise discovery concepts and configuration

+ 1+ years of experience in event management in ServiceNow

+ ITIL foundations or higher level certification

+ Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with good interpersonal skills

+ Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks with little supervision

+ Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent job experience

+ Strong background working with Enterprise Management software with a large focus on Operations and Automation

+ Experience with multiple scripting languages from the following: LoadRunner, Perl, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Shell, JSON, SQL, Java, JavaScript, or .Net.

The preferred Candidate will have…

+ Experience standing up a CMDB initiative from ground up (strongly preferred)

+ Experience with Enterprise System Monitoring tools such as; JRocket Mission Control, Splunk, Solarwinds, HP BSM, APM Solution(s)

+ Knowledge and experience managing Microsoft Windows servers and applications

+ Knowledge and experience managing Red Hat Linux servers and applications

+ Knowledge and experience with various monitoring protocols; SNMP, WMI, SNMP Traps, Syslog, ICMP, Netflow.

+ Knowledge and experience with LAN/WAN and Data Center environments including Server Virtualization and Cloud Computing

+ Good analytical skills, details oriented, ability to effectively listen to and resolve customer issues and understands end to end business processes and work in a global environment

+ Experience working with versioning tools such as Git / Github

+ Experience working with Agile (Scrum) project team development environments
