Senior Risk Manager, Retail Bank

Summary:

Capital One’s Retail Bank Risk Office is seeking a qualified individual to lead a team of associates responsible for monitoring controls and processes to ensure sustainability of the retail banking enterprise. This team’s primary focus would be on the testing of compliance and operational controls within Retail Operations, reporting these results to senior leadership, and identifying any additional areas of needed testing coverage. This individual would also be responsible for identification of current testing that could be automated in order to test the full population of transactions.

Responsibilities:

+ Creating a schedule for testing across the Retail Bank to assess the strength of internal controls and proactively identify issues that the business may need to address

+ Create reporting for executives that helps them understand where control opportunities exist

+ Facilitate remediation activities as needed

+ Deliver effective reporting to Bank leadership

+ Management and develop associates in support of their controls and testing work and professional career

+ Support the automation of controls with the end goal of implementing full exception/population testing across the control environment.

+ Consult with the business operational teams and counterparts in the business risk office (BRO) to ensure timely identification and remediation of risks based on the execution and subsequent results of our control portfolio.

+ Identify and remediate coverage gaps in our control environment by reviewing regulatory and policy updates to determine applicability and prioritization.

+ Partner and interface with the business, Business Risk Office, and 2nd line of defense Risk Management teams to ensure awareness of trends across the control environment

+ Complete the monthly reporting necessary to inform the Accountable Executives on control monitoring and issue remediation status.

+ Where needed, develop new metrics and reporting to enhance our interactions with our partners in 1st and 2nd lines of defense.

Basi c Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience

+ At least 3 years of experience in Risk Management

+ At least 3 years of experience in Regulatory Compliance, Legal or Auditing

+ At least 3 years of experience in financial services

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Strong understanding of internal control and risk management

+ Internal or external audit experience

+ Compliance related industry certifications (CRCM, CIPP, CAMS)

+ Ability to work directly with all levels of Management

+ Excellent communication skills and ability to influence and guide others
