Job Summary

The Environmental Program Management Organization (PMO) of AECOM is actively seeking a highly-motivated Environmental or Civil Engineer for immediate employment in our Newark, Delaware office. The ability to work remotely from another regional AECOM office may be considered, provided the candidate is able to routinely commute to the Newark, Delaware office when necessary. The position requires strong multi-discipline technical and interpersonal skills and the ability to work productively both independently and collaboratively with engineers and scientists on a variety of remediation projects.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

+ Earthworks engineering and grading design

+ Environmental water collection, conveyance, and treatment system engineering

+ Stormwater and sediment and erosion control engineering and permitting

+ Geosynthetics engineering and waste containment design

+ Selection and specification of general civil infrastructure and utility systems

+ Selection and specification of waste solidification and stabilization methods

+ Selection and specification of vertical barrier technologies

+ Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) construction specifications practices

+ Construction quality assurance and quality control principles and practices

+ Construction contract administration principles and practices

+ Understanding of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) methods

Responsibilities include:

+ Provide engineering and design support for private industrial and municipal remediation projects.

+ Develop, coordinate, and provide field oversight of pre-design investigations.

+ Analyze data and prepare and review engineering related reports, plans, calculations, drawings, figures, and specifications using accepted engineering practices and procedures.

+ Make preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

+ Prepare engineer’s cost opinions.

+ Interpret hazardous waste, solid waste, stormwater, and site development codes and regulations and prepare permit applications.

+ Work under supervision of a project manager or advanced-level team member.

+ Implement project deliverable requirements of the AECOM Quality Management System.

+ Demonstrate ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues.

+ Provide technical guidance to entry-level and junior-level staff.

+ Periodic travel and short-term field assignments will be required to visit job sites and perform investigations and construction quality monitoring.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 6 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

+ 6+ years of remediation system design and field experience

+ Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)

+ Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills

+ Proficiency working with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and PDF editing software

+ Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field

+ OSHA 1910.120 HAZWOPER 40-hour and Supervisor certification

+ Working knowledge of the following programs: Microsoft Project, hydrology and hydraulic design software, and AutoCAD/Civil3D.
