FMC Global Research & Development, Regulatory Sciences, is looking for a highly-motivated scientist to work at Stine Research Center, Newark, Delaware.

The successful candidate will be leading environmental fate modeling research projects as Product Technical Expert to determine and understand fundamental agrochemical dissipation processes, such as, microbial soil degradation, hydrolysis, photolysis, soil sorption, and field dissipation to support registration and commercialization of crop protection products.

+ Proactively participate in design of regulatory strategy to develop comprehensive environmental fate data dossiers, ensure their scientific consistency and uphold the technical quality of environmental fate modeling approaches.

+ Proactively participate in the development of environmental risk assessment strategies for the registration of new crop protection chemicals.

+ Perform environmental fate modeling in support of global submissions using agreed models and approaches

+ Serve as study/program monitor (for work performed at external partners) for the design, conduct, interpretation, and reporting of regulatory modeling.

+ Interface with regulatory agencies on technical issues and to develop and present responses to any requests.

+ Collaborate with eco-toxicology technical experts and the product registration teams to conduct the environmental risk assessments and establish safe and sustainable uses for crop protection chemicals.

A Ph.D. degree in environmental science, engineering, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, computer modeling or similar fields or Master’s with 10 years or Bachelor’s degree with 15 year in previously stated areas

+ 5 to 10 years experience in the design, conduct, interpretation and reporting of environmental fate modelling in support of agrochemical products globally.

+ 5 to 10 years experience in the use of standard environmental fate models such as PEARL PELMO, MACRO, PRZM, KinGUI, and CAKE

+ 5 to 10 years experience with kinetic assessment of environmental fate studies and environmental fate modeling.

+ Familiarity with global pesticide registration guidelines and data requirements.

+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.

+ Good computer and statistical evaluation skills.

+ Excellent project management skills.

+ Strong interpersonal skills that allow for effective collaboration.

+ Strong communication skills with experience in making complex information understandable and tailoring the communication to the appropriate audience.

+ Experience in managing competing demands and meeting or exceed Desired Skills:

+ Knowledge of Good Laboratory Standards (GLPs).

+ Experience in preparing scientific publications and presentations on scientific research.

+ Experience of higher tier environmental fate modeling such as GIS

+ Background knowledge of soil science, hydrology and agronomic science is beneficial.
