We are currently looking for a Global Customer Quality Engineer (m/f) to join our Automotive Electrification (Auto-E) Team in EMEA supporting Display Materials and Systems Division (DMSD)

Overall Mission

The Auto-E customer quality engineer will support business growth and customer satisfaction by delivering 3M solutions to the automotive industry. We are focused on major trends shaping the automotive industry including autonomous driving, connected experience, electric vehicle and shared mobility. The implications of these trends are changes to customer experience and we are focused on enabling these solutions to the OEM and tier channels.

Auto industry tier one suppliers are prototyping, quoting and producing systems and displays for production in Europe, supporting Auto OEM manufacturing. Applications include driver information display (DID), center information display (CID), passenger information display, heads up display (HUD), side mirror replacement, rearview mirror technology, and driver information monitoring. Production is secured in locations in Europe and is supported by 3M manufacturing in Asia and North America.

To supplement our growing sales, marketing and application engineer talent in Europe, we need quality assurance engineering talent to utilize knowledge of technical, product, market and customer information to set the right focus and scope for the projects identified to drive sustainable growth.

Key Job Responsibilities

+ Functions as global quality engineer supporting display and sensor technology product and program development, focused on automotive business applications. Quality engineer keeps the 3M promise of innovation by understanding customer application and requirements, evaluating 3M capability to meet such requirements, and driving control plan and capability improvement to meet customer requirements.

+ Quality support for program development such as RFQ (request for quote) process including team feasibility commitment and development of PPAP (production part approval process), customer site audit and approval process. Quality engineer will support sales and application engineer in customer solution development as well as connecting to global 3M factory operations to execute on customer requirements.

+ Respond to customers as needed (product development and customer specifications, complaints and corrective action/CAPA, key account management including customer agreements, data analysis, etc.)

+ Lead continual quality improvement projects with customer to improve quality and reduce Defective Parts per Million (DPPM). Understand customer scorecard and feedback to share with 3M team.

+ Lead quality tool usage within project teams. May train, counsel, and guide engineers, managers and directors in IATF and customer specific requirements across multiple divisions supporting the Automotive Industry

+ Manage customer complaints in 3M Customer Feedback and Resolution (CFR) system within product responsibility area

+ Develop and support test methods: documentation, training, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), round robins

+ Support visual reference standards, visual test methods, and align visual detection systems

+ Support and improve the Quality Management System, including IATF 16949 internal audits at 3M sites and sub-contractor locations, including DMSD and other automotive electrification divisions

+ Identifies, plans, recommends, and completes quality programs for the division, shares best practices amongst AE divisions

+ Travel to European customer locations as well as periodic travel to North America and East Asia

Skills, experience and key capabilities

+ Customer focus

+ Problem solving and team work

+ OEM industry experience with direct automotive industry experience preferred

+ Experience working in complex supply chains including multi-national

+ Strong project management and communication skills

+ Ability to work in a matrix organization, communicating at all levels

+ Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, mechanical/electrical/chemical would be an advantage

+ Minimum (3) years of experience working in a quality or product engineering, and/or Manufacturing/quality environment
