Chase Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) serves consumers and small businesses with a broad range of financial services, including personal banking, small business banking and lending, mortgages, credit cards, payments, auto finance, and investment advice. Consumer & Community Banking Risk Management partners with each CCB sub-line of business to identify, assess, prioritize, and remediate risk. Types of risk that occur in consumer businesses include fraud, reputation, operational, credit, market and regulatory, among others.

CCB Card Acquisition Risk Modeling – Data Scientist – Associate

The CCB Card Acquisition Risk Modeling associate will be responsible for end-to-end management of complex model development and ad hoc analytic projects to drive innovation and identify new opportunities for risk mitigation and revenue growth. Success in this role requires a strong foundation in predictive modeling and machine learning coupled with experience in working with large dataset. In this highly visible role, the successful candidate will be able to think like an analytic leader with strong business acumen, collaborate in a team environment, and communicate the business analytics and model statistics / insights succinctly to senior management.

The key responsibilities will include:

+ Develop best in industry credit card acquisition risk models, by using large and complex datasets and applying advanced analytical methods

+ Manage the complete life cycle of the acquisition risk models, including end-to-end process from data collection, variable creation, model development, model documentation and review, model implementation, to ongoing model performance monitoring, etc.

+ Interact cross-functionally with multiple teams, including business strategy, loss forecasting, model governance, model implementation teams, and external vendors

+ Partner with business users in making strategic choices and investment decisions

+ PhD or Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or related quantitative fields

+ A minimum of one year hands-on work or research experience in statistical modeling and data mining, such as generalized linear models, unsupervised and supervised machine learning algorithms

+ Proficiency in advanced analytical languages (e.g., R, Python, SAS)

+ Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services – AWS or Spark) and database systems (e.g., Hadoop, Teradata, or SQL) is a plus

+ Strong analytical and problem solving skills

+ Strong communication skill to present the findings clearly and effectively to a wide audience of relevant partners
