The Executive Office maintains and promotes the Goldman Sachs culture both within and outside of the firm. Internally, the Executive Office and its supporting groups use a wide variety of channels to keep our people connected to the firm and to each other and to provide managers with tools for effective communication. Externally, the Executive Office oversees the firm’s reputation with the media, investors, policy makers, job seekers and the public at large. It is the custodian of the Goldman Sachs brand and the steward of the firm’s relationship with the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Serve as first contact for journalists and other stakeholders of the press office /corp. communications department for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

+ Provide corporate communications services to internal and external stakeholders (e.g. distribution of press materials externally, distribution of media clippings internally)

+ Arrange, confirm and manage calendar; scheduling complex senior-level meetings and related logistics.

+ Place, receive and manage high volume of phone calls.

+ Schedule and coordinate travel including flights, hotel, ground transportation, travel advances and foreign currency. Coordinate necessary passport/visa documentation.

+ Perform general tasks including, but not limited to, file organization, archiving, preparing and formatting pre-meeting materials, maintaining contact bases and distribution lists.

+ Handle budget-related tasks, ensuring compliance and process requirements are being met.

+ Exercise discretion in dealing with highly sensitive and confidential information.

+ Prepare travel and expense reports on a timely basis.

+ Help organize local meetings and events, including booking of rooms, managing service providers and ensuring smooth logistics.

+ Work with EO teams in London and New York to ensure smooth organization of meetings and events (e.g. senior executive visits).

+ Other related projects and duties as requested.

DEPARTMENT-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

+ Responsibility for answering press office phone line

+ Liaison with journalists/media to arrange interviews and background meetings with GSemployees

+ Distribution of economic and equity research materials to journalists and agencies

+ Administration and maintenance of distribution lists

+ Interaction with PR agencies (including managing contracts and processing of invoices)

+ Updating excel spreadsheets of media contacts/daily media interactions

+ Responsibility for the press office archive which houses all newspapers and publications

+ Managing subscriptions to various print and online media publications

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR

+ Fluent English and German.

+ Experience working in a highly demanding and fast-paced environment.

+ Experience working with highly confidential information.

+ Highest degree of integrity, professionalism, diplomacy and discretion required.

+ Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively and meet tight deadlines.

+ Excellent judgment; independent thinker and resourceful.

+ Dedicated team player willing to take accountability and contribute to team’s overall objectives.

+ Excellent anticipation and prioritization skills.

+ Composure under pressure.

+ Attention to detail is essential.

+ Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

+ Excellent communication skills in person, on phone, and by email and voicemail.

+ High technical affinity and problem-solving skills.

+ Experience working with all levels in a corporate environment (Executive Office, Partners, Managing Directors, clients, assistants, etc.).

+ Flexibility for overtime and change in hours.

+ Exposure to the communications/media landscape preferred.
