Supervisor, Subcontracts

Under general direction, the Supervisor, Subcontracts uses specialized knowledge or skills to solve complex and unique problems, or direct the daily activities of a business, technical support, or functional support team. The incumbent establishes priorities for the completion of assigned tasks and uses judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices. He/She may direct resources, prioritize tasks and provide guidance to less experienced team members and project personnel. Relies upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of field to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy.


Responsible for compliance with Subcontract Management practices and procedures

Support one or more Projects with Subcontract Administration & Procurement duties

Maintain a working knowledge of KBR’s Contract Management & Procurement Standards, programs and goals

Gather and compile data essential to formation and/or solicitation, negotiation, and administration of subcontracts in the construction industry

Establish and maintain communications with client representatives and project staff through meetings, telephone and web conferences, and reports to provide for client satisfaction

Prepare, maintain, retrieve, and communicate records, reports, or documents that may be required to meet corporate and Contract Management requirements

Monitor and track subcontractors’ compliance to KBR’s HSSE and Quality and Finance procedures

Provide operational direction to administrative/contract technician personnel

Develop and make formal presentations

Read and understand the Prime Contract: flow down applicable clauses in subcontracts

Develop standard subcontract templates for a project ; Participate in the development of Project Contract Plans

Interface with all levels of the project team – and be able to represent and interface with all levels of internal and/or external management and corporate organization persons

Perform Contractor resource surveys

Participate in development of contract risk assessment matrix and participate in risk reviews

Participate in project functional audits.

Develop agendas and participate in project kick-off and alignment meetings

Lead/Participate in all aspects of the Contract bid process for capital projects starting with project planning, continuing through prequalification of subcontractors, compliance tracking, organization of meetings with potential bidders, chairing bid meetings, coordination of technical meetings, pre-award meetings, analyzing commercial bids, developing final proposal evaluations, coordinating and preparing final recommendations, drafting contract documents, reviewing contractor productivity, schedule adherence, change management, and claims avoidance, and performing all subcontract management post-award activities through contractor evaluation.

Coordinate closeout of subcontracts, finalize outstanding contract issues.



Degree from accredited four (4) year institution or global equivalent in applicable field of study;

and four (4) years of related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to eight (8) years if non-degreed

Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management coworkers, clients, suppliers, and contractors

Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statues and guidelines

Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Must have the ability to work in a team environment

Must have the ability to organize and prioritize daily work for multiple clients

Demonstrated ability to work in a professional engineering or construction environment

Possess strong understanding of contract “terms and conditions”, experienced in resolving differences between contractor terms and conditions and client requirements
