KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

A Mechanic III is usually the entry level position for all full-time employees. This position is considered primarily training in nature. Based on need, a Mechanic III can be utilized on a temporary or regular basis in any department in which they are qualified. Normally, a Mechanic III will work under the direction of a Mechanic II or Mechanic I. As a Mechanic III progresses, they may be required to work independently. This is considered part of the training.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

+ Responsible for a series of stations and/or line to meet takt time or schedule requirements.

+ Required to have knowledge of and ability to use various hand tools and tape measure.

+ Demonstrate a basic mechanical aptitude, read and understand shop orders, assembly installation instructions, parts/equipment specifications, etc.

+ Ability to read and access paperwork, Standard work and reference drawings.

+ Capability to understand quality standards and seek out issues on the line to communicate to Station Leader.

+ Ability to learn the understanding of basic Lean Principles of 8 Wastes and 5S program. The ability to contribute new ideas and sustain these processes.

+ Knowledge of the Premium Appearance standard and identify issues in each product when needed.

+ Performs all other duties as assigned by the team leader, plant superintendent or plant manager.

+ Must have good attendance. This requires applicant not to have been on the points system in the previous year.

+ Ability to work any shift if needed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Critical Thinking – Ability to organize and stock tools and hardware for all jobs.

+ Communication – Capable of communicating with Team Leader, Station Leader and production employees professionally.

+ Customer Focus – Understanding of your customers, previous and next stations and finished goods customer. Know their process and how quality and on-time delivery affects them.

+ Aligning People and Team Development – Ability to work with all production employees and recognize when other stations may need assistance to complete their takt times.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk up to 50% of the time. Working conditions include those of a normal construction environment, as well as standard hazards associated with installed HVAC equipment and rotating equipment. This position requires occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
