The Director of Performance Improvement works under the Vice President of Medical Affairs and will have administrative responsibilities for Quality Management and Infection Control. The Director serves as a key resource to executives, physicians, directors, and other staff in developing and implementing process improvement, outcome management, quality, and service standards. This includes quality improvement activities and regulatory compliance as well as local and national quality initiatives. Budget responsibility as well as reporting the institutions results of publicly reported data.
Masters in healthcare or business related field is required. Must have Five (5) years experience in healthcare management and leadership roles, with a minimum of three (3) years experience in continuous quality improvement, high reliability systems, and Lean/Six Sigma. Extensive experience/ knowledge of Joint Commission and CMS standards for Quality required. Black Belt or Certification in Quality Improvement (Six Sigma, ASQ, CPHQ, etc.) preferred.
Demonstrated analytical skills. Must have knowledge of latest performance improvement systems and previous experience with leading Performance Improvement Initiatives, involvement with Lean/Six Sigma or other similar improvement methodology. Quality awards programs preferred (demonstrated results in five or more DMAIC or equivalent project methods). High level of proven team leadership; demonstrated ability to lead and execute multiple engagements simultaneously. Facilitation and presentation skills required. Previous experience in Information Services, Computer Science, including analytical applications preferred. Must be a progressive thinker with the ability to initiate change and the ability to plan and manage in response to changing financial requirements.
Incumbent must remain current in their licenses and certifications pertaining to this position.
Individual should possess the interpersonal skill to lead and deal effectively with others, and to guide, support, and empower staff, and maintain their support. The candidate must recognize that patient, family, and physician satisfaction, along with financial performance are all tied to quality care. Good organizational skills and previous exposure to areas that report to this position are important.
