Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the SANE/FNE Program Director, and general supervision of the Site Directors of BHMC, the SANE/FNE Clinical Coordinator is responsible for providing care that is patient/family and outcome focused with all victims of violence. The provision of patient care demonstrates knowledge and application of biophysical, psychological, cultural, educational, safety, discharge and self-care needs that are age specific for the patient population as identified in the unit’s scope of care. Serving as liaison between BHMC- Emergency Department and the county attorney’s office, medical examiner, law enforcement and all agencies involved with patient that have been victimized. The SANE/FNE Clinical Coordinator is to maintain current knowledge of case law, legal evidence collection procedures, and working knowledge of law enforcement and medical investigative responsibilities. Furthermore, the SANE/FNE Clinical Coordinator is to develop on a continuum, educational programs on forensics specifically based for each hospital department.

Education: Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) Required, Master of nursing preferred (MSN)

Experience: 3 years experience as an RN in a related forensic specialty area

Certification/Registration: Current RN Licensure in DE

Current Specialty Certifications- SANE-A, SANE-P BLS. AHA credentials as appropriate (ACLS, PALS, TNCC).

Special Knowledge: Effective Communication Skills

Flexibility Demonstrate excellent work ethics role model for organization

Commitment to evidenced-based practice, Research utilization

Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands

Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Computer/Software: Experience in a variety of computer programs.
