DEPARTMENT: Front End JOB TITLE: Courtesy Clerk JOB OBJECTIVE: Provide courteous, efficient service to retail customers through bagging and carrying out of customer orders DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Unload groceries from cart to turntable/conveyor belt. 2. Place grocery items into bags according to company policy and standards. 3. Place bagged grocery items into shopping cart. 4. Accompany customer to vehicle and unload grocery items into vehicle. 5. Communicate with customer and engage in friendly conversation. 6. Place order in vehicle utilizing proper stacking techniques. 7. Retrieve unused shopping carts from parking lot area and return to store. 8. Direct customers to appropriate areas in the store. 9. Refill grocery bags at checkout stand area. 10. Stock and face wine aisle. 11. Empty trash from checkout stand areas and carts. 12. Conduct price checks. 13. Learn product location storewide. The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work performed by the associate assigned to this job. PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB: NOTE: FREQUENCY DEFINITIONS: OCCASIONAL – Activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time. FREQUENT – Activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. CONTINUOUS – Activity or condition exists more than 2/3 of the time. 1. Lift: Continuous lifting of up to 20 pound bags of groceries to place in shopping car or vehicle. Continuous lifts may be accomplished either bilaterally or with either hand. Occasional bilateral lifting of up to 40 pound sacks of salt or product from pallets at 4 inches above the floor to waist height. 2. Carry: Frequent front bilateral carrying of items weighing up to 20 pounds over even surfaces from store area to checkout stand area. Occasional front bilateral carrying of items weighing up to 40 pounds over even surfaces from store area to checkout stand area. 3. Push/pull: Frequent push/pull of shopping carts over even and uneven surfaces requiring a few pounds of pressure to initiate movement . NOTE: According to store policy, a maximum of 6 carts can be pushed/pulled at one time. It requires 30 pounds of pressure to initiate movement of 6 carts. 4. Grip: Continuous grip of products of various dimensions. Bagging consists of highly repetitive movements of the arms. The work speed is rapid and the movements are, therefore, repeated at a high frequency. 5. Trunk Rotation: Occasional trunk rotation to left or right while bagging groceries. 6. Squat/Kneel: Occasional squat/kneel to access items on lower shelf of shopping carts or pallets. 7. Forward Bend: Occasional forward bending from waist while off loading products from pallets and accessing product from lower shelves of shopping cart. 8. Climb: Occasional climb of 20 stairs to reach office and break room. 9. Sit: Not required.

10. Stand: Frequent standing in one place without much moving about while bagging groceries.
11. Walk: Frequent stop and go walking about the store area and parking lot while transporting carry out items to vehicles.
12. Reach: Frequent reach at shoulder height and below up to 37 ½ inches to bag groceries and handle food items. Occasional reach above shoulder to retrieve product from upper shelves.
13. Fine Manipulation: Frequent fine manipulation to pick up and handle grocery products.
14. Environmental Factors: Frequent exposure to various weather conditions. Occasional exposure to chemicals used in cleaning.
15. Cognitive Factors: Ability to communicate in English with customers. Ability to understand product perishability; safety; company, department and store policies and procedures.
